Computer resolution

There is an issue with the page on less wide resolutions. I use a computer that is 1280 x 1024, and the table hangs off the edge of the screen. If there is any way to make the table more presentable at less wide resolutions, that would be good. Sorry for any inconvenience! ™ 00:01, July 17, 2015 (EDT)

No problem at all! Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate your issue. Which browser are you using? Here on Firefox & Safari the table never extends past the edge of the page no matter how small I make the window. (talk) 13:02, July 17, 2015 (EDT)

I'm using FireFox. My issue is that there is a horizontal scroll bar, which indicates that the table is too wide in my resolution. Ctrl + scroll removes it, but at minimum size, the text is a tad too small to read. ™ 17:36, July 17, 2015 (EDT)

I'm not really sure what to do. There is no way to keep all the information in the table and have it appear without a horizontal scroll bar at your resolution. I could make all the text in the table smaller and abbreviate the game names to make the columns thinner, but there would still be some horizontal scrolling needed. For shortening the table as-is, switching out game titles for abbreviations seems to work at 1280x1024 (going by Firefox's viewer, not an actual screen of that size). I'm not sure if the abbreviations are generally recognized, though, and I don't recall if we've used them in anything reader-facing.

(I obviously have no knowledge of this page before now, so forgive me if I'm bringing up some scrapped idea.) You could also, perhaps, remove a column or two. For example, the "Dōbutsu no Mori" column could be taken out with a note that islanders weren't present in the game. Part of me prefers having all the games represented regardless, though. I think the left columns are better candidates for removal; although it's nice to have the information, much of it can be accessed in predictable locations on the villagers' pages. (For me, game appearances in the table have the advantage of being easier to read than the lists in infoboxes.) Among those columns, I think "Japanese Name" would be best to remove, since it's one of the first pieces of information shown on villager pages, where names in additional languages are also provided fairly reliably later on. -Sky (talk) 14:07, July 19, 2015 (EDT)
