The Police Station (交番 kōban) is a small, cylindrical building that appears in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Its sole purpose is to accomodate items for the 'Lost and Found', a service that stores items that villagers around town have found. The player can claim all of the items on display without consequence. Twenty items can be stored in the police station at a time, after which the old ones are replaced. Items such as stationery, clothing and furniture can all be found on display.

The police station has a small paved area around it, and the town map is displayed on a board outside. Copper the dog stands outside to give the player information regarding events, while Booker waits within the building to try to assist the player. Copper will thank the player for visiting after they exit the building.

The police station is replaced by the Town Gate in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk. It returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where the player will have the choice of building either the Old Style station which will be run by Booker, or the New Style station which will be run by Copper.
