Copper, also known as Officer Copper,^{[nb 4]} is a dog in the Animal Crossing series. He works as a police officer in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and as a guard in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk. He works alongside Booker in all games except New Leaf. His name comes from the word copper, a slang term for a police officer.

Characteristics[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Copper is a brown dog with a white muzzle and paws. He resembles the Akita, the national dog of Japan. In Animal Crossing and New Leaf, he wears a blue police officer uniform, cap, and badge, and in Wild World and City Folk, he wears a red guard uniform and a teal helmet.

Personality[edit]

Copper is confident and hard-working, taking pride in his duty as a police officer or guard. He prides early risers and warns the player to be careful when wandering around at night. He is also athletic, exercising on the job and hosting the morning aerobics in Animal Crossing. This contrasts with Booker's timid personality.

In Animal Crossing[edit]

In Animal Crossing, Copper works outside the police station and will inform the player of upcoming and current events or visitors. From 6 AM to 7 AM from July 25 to August 31, Copper hosts the morning aerobics, instructing the player, villagers, and Tortimer with various exercises. He can also be seen exercising at the police station from 5 AM to 6 AM.

Copper may be asleep outside the police station at night, and the player can wake him up by speaking to him.

In Wild World and City Folk[edit]

In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, Copper stands opposite of Booker inside the checkpoint. He can allow the player to visit other towns, open and close the gate, and be assigned a Friend Code.

In New Leaf[edit]

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Copper works inside the police station, operating the lost and found. He only appears if the modern police station public works project is built, as Booker works in the classic police station.

In the Welcome amiibo update, Copper can appear in his RV at the campground at random if the modern police station is not built.

In New Horizons[edit]

Following the version 2.0 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Copper can appear as a customer at The Roost. He will always be joined by Booker. He can also be invited to Photopia via his amiibo, after which Copper's poster can be obtained from Nook Shopping.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Copper can sometimes be seen in the background of the Smashville stage. Copper also appears alongside Booker as a trophy and a sticker in this game as part of the Animal Crossing series.
