Maddie is a peppy dog villager in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori, and after her appearance in Doubutsu no Mori e+, she remained absent from the series until Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, where she returns as a DLC character. Her catchphrase, "yippee," may be derived from "yip," an onomatopoeia for a dog sound.
In New Horizons, Maddie has the play hobby and can run around with her arms extended at any time, rather than only outside Resident Services during a scripted activity with a group of villagers.
Maddie is a brown dog, whose face and legs go from a dark brown to a lighter brown, ending up with a chalky white muzzle, paws, and tail. Her ears are the opposite: they transition from brown to a darker brown. She has triangular, black eyes with tan eyelashes, curved tan eyebrows, and a large black nose. She also has a large smile.

As a peppy villager, Maddie will appear cheerful and friendly, and sometimes will reward others with gifts and compliments. To some villagers however, Maddie can appear to be rude sometimes. She has a short attention span and may have the tendency to overreact about small things. She will be easy to befriend, taking comfort in those she talks to most. She may, however, feel insulted when talking to snooty or cranky villagers, who may gossip about her or disagree with her style. She may also find it difficult to talk with lazy villagers, but she gives out comfort to jocks, who are the male equivalent to the peppy villagers. She also gets along well with normal, big sister, and smug villagers.
