Carmen is a peppy rabbit villager in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Animal Crossing: City Folk and has appeared in all subsequent games. Her name may come from "caramel", referring to her fur color. Her catchphrase, "nougat", is another type of confectionery. Her Japanese name「チョコ」(Choco), is an abridging for "chocolate", which also refers to her fur color, and for her fondness of chocolate, as seen with her Happy Home Designer and Happy Home Paradise house requests involving chocolate, and her Pocket Camp crafting request being a chocolate fountain.

In New Horizons, Carmen has the fashion hobby and may be seen wearing a pink purse with a white flower on it, as well as a specific headwear or accessory item.

Carmen is a dark brown rabbit with a white face and white tipped paws, tail, and nose, while the insides of her ears are aqua blue. She wears pink blush and appears to have hair that is swept to the side.

Being a peppy villager, she will be open to all personalities and will get along with most villagers, but she may get upset when talking to snooty or cranky villagers. She will be very upbeat and never afraid to speak her mind.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, Carmen's moon-themed house interior is likely a reference to the Japanese myth of the moon rabbit. According to the myth, the dark side of the moon looks like a rabbit making mochi (a Japanese snack associated with the New Year). This house trait is shared with four other rabbit villagers: Dotty's moon-themed house interior in all games except Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons; Mira's moon base-themed house interior in Animal Crossing: New Leaf; Ruby's moon-themed house interior in all of her game appearances; and Sasha's moon-themed house request in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise. Her house interior heavily resembles Octavian's, with the main difference being that she has a lunar lander instead of a flying saucer, as well as having slightly different furniture on the left and right sides.
