Epona is a peppy horse villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. She is based on the horse of the same name from The Legend of Zelda series. Her birthday is the same as the Japanese release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Epona can only move to the player's town if either the Sheik (Super Smash Bros.), Link (Ocarina of Time), Rider Link (Breath of the Wild), or Link (Majora's Mask) amiibo is scanned and she is invited to move in from the campground. She cannot be asked to move in from another player's town or campground.
Epona is an orange-brown horse with a white mane. She has a thick white streak of fur from the top of her head that tapers to a triangular point at the edge of her dark brown muzzle. She has blue eyes, brown hooves, and ears tipped in dark brown. She bears a strong resemblance to the The Legend of Zelda horse of the same name, being based on her appearance. Her initial outfit is the Epona outfit, which resembles the design of her brown saddle from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Below is a brief description of the peppy personality. For more information, click here.
As a peppy villager, Epona will always be in a good mood. She will get along other villagers including the player, making it easy to befriend her and gain her picture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. As with other peppy villagers, she loves candy and sweet food. Peppy villagers take offense quite easily and may walk away upset rather than angry when the wrong things are said in a conversation between her and the player or another villager. She may be the target for cranky villager jokes and pranks.
In Welcome amiibo
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, Epona's skill of "galloping" and goal of "hero's companion" reference her role as Link's horse in The Legend of Zelda series, where she serves as a major method of transportation.
