Horses are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. The primary features differentiating them from the other hooved villagers are their peanut-shaped heads and their prominent necks, along with a three-pointed mane. Most of their names and appearances relate to jockeys, racehorses, and specific breeds of horse. However, Filly appears to be a superhero and Roscoe is based on a knight chess piece, while Julian is based on a unicorn, Papi is based on an okapi (a relative of giraffes) and Savannah is based on a zebra, a non-domesticated equine species.
Of the seventeen horse villagers in the games, three are peppy, two are snooty, three are normal, one is big sister, three are lazy, one is jock, one is cranky, and three are smug; one of which, Ed, was previously a jock.
Due to Cleo and Filly returning in the Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo update, the horse, along with the rabbit and the tiger, is the second villager species in which all of the villagers of that species appear in the same game together after Doubutsu no Mori e+, the first being the octopus.
