Birds are a species in the Animal Crossing series who appear both as villagers and as special characters. The term does not refer to any bird specifically, but these birds resemble many different typical passerines, down to having unique tail feathers.
Twenty-one bird villagers have appeared in the series so far, of which two are islanders, along with three bird special characters. Out of the bird villagers, fifteen are male and six are female, making it a predominantly male species. Of these, six are jock, four are cranky, three are lazy, two are normal, two are peppy, two are snooty, and two are smug. There are currently no big sister birds.
Flash, Joe, Madam Rosa, Otis, Shoukichi, and Twirp are the only birds who have not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+, and additionally, Medli is missing from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. All of the birds who appear in New Horizons also appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
