Tortoises are a species of special characters in the Animal Crossing series, as no moving villagers are tortoises.

Tortimer is the only member of the group. During the Acorn Festival in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Cornimer—a tortoise with an acorn head—will appear. It is strongly suggested that he is merely Tortimer in a mask. Cornimer returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo as the final boss in the story mode of Animal Crossing: Puzzle League, and in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, where he replaces Tortimer on Harv's Island in the fall and gives the player acorns.
