Koalas are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. Koalas are indigenous to Australia, lending a theme to some of the villagers' names. Koalas are one of two groups of marsupials that appear in the Animal Crossing series, the other being kangaroos. There are eleven koala villagers so far, four of which are male, and seven of which are female, making this a predominantly female species. Most of the female koalas are normal, but there is one peppy koala, one snooty koala, and one big sister koala. Each of the male koalas is one of the four different male personalities, meaning one koala is cranky, one is jock, one is lazy, and one is smug.
Yuka is the only koala to appear in every game so far. In addition to this, Faith and Huggy, the latter being the only peppy koala, are the only koalas not present in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. Alice, Eugene, Gonzo, Lyman, and Yuka are the only koalas who are present in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
