Pigs are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are characterized by their curled tails, flopped ears, and large snouts. In all games up to Animal Crossing: Wild World, the pig villagers had pointed ears, similar to the cat villagers. In Animal Crossing: City Folk onwards, however, the pigs instead are given flopped ears, making the pig the first villager species to receive a design change between games.
There are nineteen pig villagers so far, one of which is an islander. Eleven are male and eight are female, making it a predominantly male species. Of these, five are jock, three are normal, three are cranky, two are lazy, two are peppy, two are snooty, one is smug, and one is big sister. Hambo, Pigleg, and Sue E are the only pigs who have not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+. Chops, Hugh, Lucy, and Spork are also absent from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
- The pig is the only villager species to have received a villager of every personality in the game the species debuted in, while also receiving a big sister and smug villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
- The bird, cat, bear cub, hippo, monkey, and mouse also had a villager of every personality in their debut installments. However, no cats had the smug personality until Animal Crossing: New Horizons. No birds, hippos, or mice have ever had the big sister personality, whereas no cubs or monkeys have ever had the smug personality.
