Wardell is a manatee in Animal Crossing: New Horizons who appears in the Happy Home Paradise DLC. He works for Paradise Planning, a service that designs vacation homes for villagers.[1]

Wardell is a light-blue manatee. His large nose has small round light-silver nostrils. He has black hair, small black oval-shaped eyes, and a small dark-red inner-mouth. His arms and feet are rounded like flippers.

Like Niko, Wardell wears a Paradise Planning aloha top. He also wears large beige pants and a red mini straw boater.

Unlike Lottie and Niko, Wardell is fairly reserved and does not talk much, preferring to let others talk for him. During his free time, he sits on a gray log bench listening to ocean sounds and teaching the player soundscapes if they come to him to have a friendly talk with him, making those the only occasions when he talks much.

In Happy Home Paradise[edit]

Wardell's main purpose involves running the gift shop at the Paradise Planning headquarters, which sells exclusive furniture items and souvenir chocolates. He will explain his service to the player the first time they inspect a furniture item, and also informs the player of any changes made to the service due to the player's work. He explains the purpose of Souvenir Chocolates the first time the player inspects them. After completing 3 housing requests, he will be seen polishing Lottie's desk. After completing 17 housing requests, he will teach the player 7 soundscapes. Completing 25 housing requests will unlock 6 more soundscapes and completing 33 housing requests will unlock 8 more soundscapes. After the player completes 30 houses and the apparel shop, he invites his friend, DJ KK, to perform on the archipelago.

According to Lottie, Wardell also provides the furniture used in designing vacation homes, though he remains in the gift shop instead of accompanying the player to job sites like Niko does. However, he does participate in the opening ceremonies for facilities the player designs and their accompanying group photos along with the player, Lottie, Niko, and any staff members the player chooses for the facility. Additionally, he will accompany the player to online designs viewed through the showroom in the Happy Home Network app. If he is the client involved in one of the online designs, Niko will take his place.

In Pocket Camp[edit]

Wardell was added to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on October 28, 2021, where he is a guest judge for the Happy Homeroom in place of Lyle.[2]
