Unlike the Nintendo e-Reader, this article addresses an peripheral that was only made for older Nintendo 3DS systems. Newer systems such as the New Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL/2DS XL do not require this add-on for amiibos at all. Neither does the Wii U and the Nintendo Switch. The e-Reader is more understandable to have because it's basically necessary to use e-Reader cards. But this is not necessary for amiibos, and I'm supporting a merger for that page instead. -- PanchamBro (talk • contributions) 22:01, November 21, 2022 (EST)

Oppose Oppose I'm not really convinced there is a good reason to merge this page. However, if it should be merged anywhere, it makes the most sense to merge it with the Nintendo 3DS page, since it's equipment that is used specifically in combination with the older Nintendo 3DS and 2DS. It would be similar to the sub-sections on the GameCube page that lists some equipment compatible with it. Also, this page could be fleshed out to have more information about the official HHD comic involving it (link). HylianAngel (talk) 00:03, November 22, 2022 (EST)
Oppose Oppose I see no reason to merge this page, it's a perfectly fine page to have on its own and is a necessary component if the player has an older 3DS model. Merging it with another page would be misleading. Chubby Bub (talk) 02:40, November 27, 2022 (EST)
Support Support Per above, or we could merge with Nintendo 3DS. Super Mario World Yoshi art.pngSuper Mario World 07:07, January 28, 2023 (EST)
Oppose Oppose I think it should be in either Merchandise or Nintendo 3DS. It would not make sense on the Amiibo page as it is only used on the 3DS. Sylveon (Autistic and proud!)🍉🌺 13:53, February 10, 2023 (EST)
Oppose Oppose There is no major reason to merge this. -- YNWAACM
Comment Comment Although, if it were to be on the Amiibo page we could just have a section of the page with it on then do a main article link. ~SylveonSig.png 10:59, April 10, 2023 (EDT)
Oppose Oppose I suppose I'm a bit late on something like this, but.. I do not think it fits the Amiibo page well, even if this is a peripheral exclusive to scanning Amiibos. The Amiibo page is very in-depth about the Amiibos and what they do in specific games. I do strongly support merging this topic, though, and as suggested prior; I think this fits the Nintendo 3DS more than the Amiibo page. This, mostly because the 3DS page is explicitly about the hardware itself and what roles it plays in Animal Crossing games.. which is what this page does, too. So Opposing the Amiibo suggestion, but strongly supporting the 3DS page suggestion. Speedy (talk) 12:27, May 27, 2023 (EDT)

Merge with Nintendo 3DS[edit]

As per previous conversation, archived above.

HylianAngel stated "it's equipment that is used specifically in combination with the older Nintendo 3DS and 2DS." And that "It would be similar to the sub-sections on the GameCube page that lists some equipment compatible with it." I agree with these statements, and my own conclusion that the Nintendo 3DS page seems to be explicitly about the hardware itself and what roles it plays in Animal Crossing games. The same has been done for the Reader/Writer, so it fits perfectly well on the 3DS page.

I hope the users who previous voted in support of this alternate idea will do so again. - Speedy ( Talk - Contributions - Log ) 11:13, May 28, 2023 (EDT)
