Real-world information
Basket of Fruit is a still life painting by the Italian painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio from circa 1599. It depicts a wicker basket containing a range of summer fruits, much of which are in poor condition. The fruits and leaves in the painting have been slightly eaten away by insects and worms or have begun to deteriorate. It is displayed at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, Italy.
