Separate article for New Horizons?

Should we consider giving the New Horizons version an article of its own? There's quite a few differences between Nook's Cranny in New Horizons and 'older' Nook's Cranny, and easily enough content to warrant its own article. Also, the upgraded NC in New Horizons is completely different in appearance, both outside and inside. Drago (talk) 13:48, September 25, 2020 (EDT)

 Neutral I think the page is fine right now, but I agree that if all the necessary content was included there that each game's iteration of Nook's Cranny might need its own page.  Support Agreed that the page is reaching is limits, and taking it to its full potential for each game would definitely require separate pages. Commenting on article name suggestion. It is likely that users will be coming to the wiki page for current information on Nook's Cranny, hence I suggested Nook's Cranny to refer to the current NH shop run by the Nooklings, with another article referring to the pre-NL shop run by Tom Nook. I am leaning toward Sunmarsh's suggestion: Keep this article but make it more of a brief overview of both iterations, with links to their respective articles provided via {{Main}}. Naming

After glossing over the results of this discussion, option 1 has received the most consensus among the other options. As per sunmarsh, this current page will be a redirect to serve Nook's Cranny (Nooklings) for search term purposes. So we've clearly agreed to create a separate page for New Horizons Nook's Cranny, but what should it be called, and which page should be the 'main' Nook's Cranny article? These are my four preferred options:

• Option 1 - Keep this central Nook's Cranny article for a brief per-game overview, and create separate Nook's Cranny (Tom Nook) and Nook's Cranny (Nooklings) articles that are linked to via {{Main}}.
• Option 2 - The main Nook's Cranny article has info about the current New Horizons shop, with a Nook's Cranny (Tom Nook) article for older games.
• Option 3 - The main Nook's Cranny article has info about the older shop run by Tom Nook, with a Nook's Cranny (New Horizons) article for the current NH shop.
• Option 4 - Same as Option 3 but the New Horizons article would be called Nook's Cranny (Nooklings).

I'm leaning towards option 2 as I think most readers will come here for New Horizons info, but what are your thoughts? Post below! Drago (talk) 13:44, February 9, 2021 (EST)

I think Option 1 or 3 are good; I'm not sure which of the two I'm leaning toward yet. I'm not a fan of Option 2 since it acts as if the Tom Nook store is not the original, and I don't think the NH store would beat the Tom Nook one as the primary topic for the term "Nook's Cranny", since the original appeared in more games and serves as the inspiration for the new one; plus, there will come a time when a new game comes out, and if the NH Nook's Cranny isn't in that game, then it wouldn't make sense to have the main article focus on that. If we want to give both stores equal weight, then Option 1 would be best, and if we want to give Tom Nook's store more weight since it's the original, then Option 3 would be best. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 14:21, February 9, 2021 (EST)

Leaning towards 2. Note that we moved Carmen (rabbit) to Carmen before (see Talk:Carmen) because people who talk about Carmen would usually refer to the rabbit villager. Similarly, talking about "Nook's Cranny" these days would usually refer to the store owned by the Nooklings and not the one owned by Tom Nook in a game released more than a decade ago. Addendum: Note that this will lead to a weird situation where the upgrade to Nook's Cranny (Tom Nook) would be called Nook 'n' Go, that is, without a (Tom Nook) modifier, unless on the off chance that such will be the same name for the upgrade for the current Nook's Cranny, such that that page will be moved to Nook 'n' Go (Tom Nook). I don't mean to be contrarian, but I think that similar to our item pages, each iteration of the shop should get it's own page (e.g. "Nook's Cranny (Animal Crossing)" "Nook's Cranny (Wild World)" etc.). On that shop page we could create a custom infobox to display information about each shop (how many of each type of item it sells, how to upgrade it, who works there, and its hours). On each shop page we could also include detailed information/lists about the items it sells, their price and their group (A, B, C). We could also include seasonal information explaining how and when certain items appear. As for what remains on this page, I think the Fish page might be a good example page. Maybe we can create a table that shows different types of items for sale (Carpet, Wallpaper, Clothing, Furniture, Stationery) along the Y-axis (left side) and the games running sequentially across the top, so readers can see how the types and numbers of items sold at the shop changed across games. Might have to disagree with this, as the various iterations of this shop, save New Horizons's, aren't just distinct enough to have their separate page. Instead of separate infoboxes, maybe templates such as used in Calm Painting to show information in the different titles would suffice. Decomposer 03:25, March 14, 2021 (EDT)

My vote would be Option 1. I'm in agreement with AlexBot2004 that it doesn't make sense to have the NH version be the "main" article since it's only in one game. I didn't realize that there is another article called Tom Nook's store, and that this is the article for the first iteration of that store, and so please ignore my previous comment. I vote for option 2. Our policy has been to follow the naming conventions of the latest mainline Animal Crossing game when determining proper article titles, and so this should be no exception. If "Nook's Cranny (Nooklings)" or "Nook's Cranny (New Horizons)" is chosen, I think that that "Nook's Cranny" should be a redirect to the NH page as readers will most likely be looking for New Horizons information when using that search term.
