The dark square tile is a rug item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. As a rug item, it can be placed inside the houses of villagers, the player, Photopia on Harv's Island, a vacation home in Happy Home Paradise, or in the Room Sketch app.

The dark square tile can be obtained from Saharah's Co-Op on Harv's Island for  1,200 Bells. Once the item is touched by the player, they can then purchase this item from their catalog for  1,000 Bells.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Boyd, Del, Jitters, Ken, and Stu. The item can also be unlocked when tasked by Lottie to design the school.
