A player with a tiger butterfly.

An essential tool for filling the museum, the net is used to catch insects as well as arachnids and crustaceans. The silver and gold net catches better than the regular one; there is a wider radius for the silver and gold nets, especially the gold one. The player can hit villagers with it. If the player hits them three times in a row, they will comment on it and either be irritated or upset, depending on the personality.

In Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, Template:AFe+, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the player can hold the "A" button with a net to walk slowly, and when the button is released, he or she will swing the net.
