The Happy Room Academy (HRA) is a type of housing association for the player to sign up for. Signing up is optional, and if you do not sign up initially, you may go to the HRA building later and sign up there. The HRA inspects your house each day, and scores it depending on the furniture inside, and how it is placed. The more points you get, the better your house is considered. Ways of boosting your points score are by placing rare or expensive pieces of furniture in your house, or completing furniture series. These each give out point bonuses (see below). You can also help your score by paying attention to Feng Shui.

The HRA is mainly for fun and to see how well you can decorate your house, but if you score a lot of points, there will be a reward (see below).

Animal Crossing: Wild World

On Animal Crossing Wild World, you have no choice to join the HRA. Tom Nook first asks you the second day you go to his store. He will describe what they do and then ask you if you want to join. If you say yes, he will be delighted, but if you say no, he will seem sad but tell you that you have to do it. At the end of both he says Good luck! which means he has signed you up, whether you like it or not.

Spotlight items are worth +151 points. Those which are also lucky are worth +7,777 points.

Points Awarded

Animal Crossing: City Folk

Lyle welcomes you in City Folk

The HRA headquarters is located in the City, where you can view your friends scores via Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

On Sunday the HRA sends the player their evaluation results on through the mail. If you don't want to receive the results by mail, talk to Lyle at the HRA headquarters. When you select "Letters", he will ask you if you want them to stop being sent. If you select "Please stop!", you will stop receiving letters (you can turn them on again by talking to Lyle again).

What seems to be the easiest and possibly cheapest way to collect HRA points is to acquire as many lucky items as possible - 10 lucky items alone gets you well over 75,000 points. If you do not receive letters, but need to see how many points you have, talk to Lyle at the HRA building.

Model Room

File:LyleNoModel.jpg
Lyle tells the player that there is no model room.

At the back of the HRA is the model room (a room theme chosen by Lyle every month that satisfies a certain theme). If no room fits the theme for the month, there will be no model room, and the area for the model room is replaced by an empty 4x4 room.

Sometimes there is no Model Room.
