The Free Update (version 1.10.0) is an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on April 28, 2021. It features the return of previously available events from 2020, as well as the addition of new seasonal items from Nook Shopping. The update was announced on April 26, 2021.[1]
New features
- May Day, International Museum Day, and the Wedding Season are enabled for 2021. Additionally, the 2020 dates will become unplayable.
- May Day features a different island layout and now last two extra days from April 29 to May 7.
- International Museum Day now features stamps rallies for the art exhibit.
- Wedding-themed clothing is available at the Able Sisters during the Wedding Season.
- New Nook Shopping seasonal events will be added and several previously released ones will return.[1]
- Children's Day is celebrated from April 28 to May 5 with a Carp Banner and a Newsprint Helmet.
- Cheese Rolling is celebrated from May 22 to May 31 with a Double Gloucester Cheese.
- Wedding Season is celebrated from June 1 to June 30.
- Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated from June 5 to June 14.
- Marine Day is celebrated from July 8 to July 22.
- Le 14 juillet is celebrated from July 10 to July 20.
- Mother's Day, International Children's Day, Father's Day, the Summer Solstice, the Winter Solstice, Tanabata, and Cowboy Festival return from 2020, with some featuring new items and updated dates.
- Mother's Day now features a Carnations item to obtain.
- Father's Day now features a Thank-You-Dad Apron to obtain.
- The Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice Nook Shopping events now occur from June 15 to June 21.
- International Children's Day now last from June 1 to June 15.
- Tanabata now last from July 1 to July 7.
- Cowboy Festival now last from July 15 to August 15.

Trivia
The original (left) and replacement (right) promotional screenshots for Children's Day. The house exterior featured in the original is not used by any villager.
- A promotional screenshot for Children's Day featured on the Japanese announcement article for the update featured a player standing next to a villager's house that does not match that of any villager. The screenshot was changed the day after the announcement to one of a player inside a house, and a note was added apologizing for the inaccuracy in the original.[1]
- This is the first update that does not send the player a gift in the mail after it is downloaded.
