Regarding the patrolling, if you do happen to see unpatrolled edits (with the red !) while viewing the recent changes list, it is part of your responsibility as a patroller to check them out and either mark them as patrolled or rollback/undo malicious ones. However, as SA said, you don't have to make it a point to patrol every single edit and you shouldn't go out of your way to look for unpatrolled edits. --Jake 13:32, August 8, 2014 (EDT)

Hey Marcus - I believe that edits to the userspace no longer count towards the Honored Member count, sorry! This was changed a while back to keep the award focused on edits to articles, files, and other wiki content. I'll review the exact conditions with Jake and will update our page on that soon.

If you take a look at the bottom of Special:HonoredMembers, if will tell you exactly how many edits you have that count towards becoming an Honored Member, along with how many more you need. ~SuperHamster Talk 03:23, October 9, 2014 (EDT)

ItemList template questions

Hey there Kevin, I wanted to get some feedback on the ItemList template and ask a few questions. First off, the class "collapsible" that is applied to tables and "mw-collapsible" that is applied to divs to make them collapsible has a few annoying features and I was wondering if it's possible to modify the HTML/CSS code for these classes to fix them? The main issue is with the placement of the 'show'/'hide' buttons. In this table the show/hide button is not vertically centered; is it possible to change the vertical alignment of the button? In this table the button appears awkwardly above the header in the table's first column. This is because the button 'takes up' quite a bit of space before it and essentially 'pushes' the text to the line below it. Is there any way we can change this so that the button doesn't take up so much invisible space to its left? It might also be helpful to add just a bit of padding on the button's right side so it doesn't brush up against the side like it does in the navboxes (e.g. Template:Furniture).

While I'm at it, I also wanted to get your opinion on collapsible item lists in general. Do you think that it's awkward to have the show/hide button in the first column (like this)? Or do you think it's better above the table with a heading (like this)? And do you think nia.png is appropriate to use if we don't have an image of the item on-hand? Or should we just leave the field blank?

Lastly, I wanted to ask again about Nookipedia's YouTube account and what you wanted me to do in the meantime while Jake is (maybe... hopefully... ;P) looking into a solution for the ACGC video files. (talk) 17:15, October 18, 2014 (EDT)

Hey Sun! I really wish I could have an answer about editing the table HTML/CSS to accomplish what you want, but that's something I don't have experience with for MediaWiki. I'll have to discuss that with Jake - mind starting a discussion on the Bulletin Board between us? I'll send him a ping to join the discussion once done.

As for the preferred table, I like the latter a lot better. Having the title and the show/hide button on the right side is simpler and cleaner IMO, but that's my two cents.

I'd also support having an image placeholder for missing images, since it looks a bit awkward to have a mix of single- and multiple-line rows.

Featured Fanart Question?

Hey there! I'm not sure if this is an okay question to ask, but I am curious about the Featured Fanart section on the Front Page. Can other Nookipedia users submit their own Animal Crossing fanart as well, or do we sumbit art from a different website? Hey Cakey - that's certainly an all-right question to ask :) Glad you like the new Featured Fanart section! The art is currently being curated by me (I search the web for fanart that catches my eye, and ask artists if they're interested in being featured). I wouldn't mind us having some sort of formal system where users can nominate photos - however, I'm also not so sure if I'd want an area on the wiki to critique peoples' art. What I think we could do is create a team of users to work with me on finding fanart. What do you think? If you're on our Discord server, I'm thinking we could set up a private channel to work together (alongside anyone else who may be interested) on finding fanart to feature. I like the idea! I'm not on the Discord server, but I can definitely join in and help you out with finding fanart. My username on Discord is different from Nookipedia, but I hope that isn't a big deal. As for the system idea, while I do think it's a good idea, I also don't want for it to be a reflection on who's good at art and who isn't good at it either. Ah, we changed that (temporarily) to let Sunmarsh quickly upload files with the license and source information placed in the Summary field, instead of him having to choose a license from the dropdown and then going back to add the source in another edit. This should be temporary until we have a better system (such as have a new field in the upload wizard that lets uploaders place a source into the license). I don't think it should be a big problem in the meantime since we don't see too many uploads, but if it becomes a problem we can re-enable it. ~SuperHamster Talk 15:37, January 16, 2017 (EST)

A few things.

Sometimes when I browse I see coding of the website that is visible impairing my ability to edit. I think the site may need to be locked until the issue is resolved, there seems to be a glitch in the code. I also logged out and the problem persisted. As far as I know it seems to happen randomly. I will also request a name change, John Denver Fan. Also is it possible to embed YouTube videos in the userspace, when I mean userspace, I mean the user page. Regarding the site glitch, can you provide more details so that we can diagnose the issue? Are you on a computer or a phone? What page(s) does it happen on? Can you describe the glitch? Is it an issue with the layout, or an advertisement?

As for YouTube videos, you can use Template:Youtube to embed a video anywhere. If you have any questions about how to use the template, feel free to ask. We don't have a limit on video embeds in the userspace, just make sure they're appropriate for the wiki (nothing offensive, no gore, no profanity, etc.).

Thanks for the username change, regarding the glitch it happens on mobile, as I use a Wii U to edit. The glitch I found out was no advertisements are shown, unless I was promoted when I was gone idk. There is also the text was like when you are on Wikia and have adblocks on, it was as for the glitch, the ads wasn't shown anywhere, the texture glitch mainly happens in the special namespace. However as I use mobile I don't have Adblock or any of that junk. Also thanks for clearing about the YouTube stuff, I was going to put music videos from John Denver and other artists. Ahh, interesting, thanks for pointing this glitch out! I think I found the problem you are experiencing on mobile: on special pages, the ads sometimes appear on top of the page content. We'll take a look and try to fix this ASAP.

For the YouTube template, you put the video's ID. If you look at the URL of the YouTube video, you should see something like watch?v=asdf1234567. Whatever string that comes after the equal sign is what goes into the template (e.g. {{Youtube|asdf1234}}. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:15, April 9, 2018 (EDT)

I got a question

I was going through each villager, and I notice that in the Happy Home Designer house infobox, some of the villagers have their personality included in the Type box next to its Species, like for example, Lazy Cat. But then there are some where only its species is shown. So my question is this, should the type box have both species and personality or just the species? I'm not sure which is best. Just wondering why your user page (and other staff user pages for that matter) doesn't have any protection on it? Hey sorry for the inexperience with this, but can you show me how images work? It's something I never had to really do over on SmashWiki. I tired just putting File:So&So.jpg in, that didn't work. Then I put it in double brackets, as if to make it a link, and then the image showed up, but it was huge, so much that only part of the image was even visible. Hi! In the future, please sign all posts with four tildes (like this: ~~~~). For broken formatting and templates, here are some examples:

• In this edit, you tried to create a redirect to MEOW Coupons, but you need to clear the rest of the content for redirects to work.
• In this edit, you tried to add a caption to the image, but that's not how captions work. The text you added appeared at the beginning of the article.
• Here you accidentally broke the clear template when removing the stub template.

Individually these aren't a big deal, but you are making a lot of edits, and making a lot of mistakes like these means that other editors will have to spend a lot of time cleaning them up. new user

Alright SuperHamster, I'm the one who have been trying to edit a lot of pages for the villagers here. I didn't see your first message because I was busy correcting Japanese and a few Korean mistakes in the transliterations, and today is the first time I've ever edited (something)pedia pages. So I didn't even know others could block me, and even less sending me messages. My mother died suddenly from a stroke 2 days ago, Monday, and I'm on lockdown like the rest of the world because of the Corona virus, so I don't just have absolutely nothing to do with my time, I'm desperate to keep myself busy by doing a bit of productive work, so as to keep my mind off my mother, who was my only light, my only friend, my only real reason to stay alive. On top of this I am autistic, so I can't even go out in public without people looking at me as if I'm joke on legs walking down the streets, and going for a simple walk is not even an option for me. I get that you don't want me to add transliterations to Asian names for the villagers. I accept that. But I have a lot of knowledge on the Japanese, Korean and Chinese languages, and I just want to help adding info and/or correcting mistakes on your pages that has to do with those languages. I need to keep myself busy. I need something to do. I know no one gives a @!$# about me and what I'm going through. And I don't expect you to, because you don't know me, and you probably have problems on your own, perhaps more and worse than mine. But I love Animal Crossing. It helps me to accept myself, my disability, my losses, my lies, my mistakes, my flaws, everything. I just wanted to contribute to this site, because I love the franchise and the games have helped me in countless indescripable ways throughout my lonely life. Hi IceGhost - first, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I know things will be very hard for a while, and it might not seem like it, but they will get better. You're definitely welcome here and are welcome to contribute. Don't sweat the IP block - that block wasn't personal nor was it to shut you out - it was just to prevent you from making lots of edits that would end up being undone. For context, we do add latinized names to villager articles, except they go into the "Names in other languages" section at the bottom (for example, see Bob's page). You're more than welcome to help out with non-English name lists, or any other areas of the site. You don't have to be any particular rank, but if you're applying for patroller, I recommend you get the trustee rank first. Of course, you also have to meet the other requirements (200 mainspace edits) as well. For admisistrator, you should be the patroller rank, and for bureaucrat, you should be an administrator. Applications aren't accepted for the director rank. If you application fails, you can reapply after 90 days of the application closing. If you're nominating someone else, you don't have to be any particular rank to nominate them. The same rules apply. ~ Vivian (talk) 10:20, June 14, 2021 (EDT)

In the case of Petri, it seems clear: their Italian name (Petronella) is a clear feminine name, whereas from their other names it is not really possible to tell as they.. aren't real names. For Sasha, most of their names are unisex, but their Japanese name (Mitchell) and their German name (Gerrit) are exclusively masculine names. Additionally, on the numbering of amiibo cards, the order alternates between male and female which is in accordance with Sasha being male and Petri being female. Nookipedia

Hi, SuperHamster I checked the nookipedia site right now and it seems that someone decided to name Nookipedia "Cephalopedia" now I am very concerned due to the fact that this edit may be vandalism now.

New to Nookipedia and have a few questions

Hi- I'm new here to Nookipedia and have a few questions if you don't mind :)

1) I found out that you're the leader for the Museum Project and I would like to help out. Do I need to sign up or anything? Or is it just something anyone can do?

2) How can I find out the articles that need to be edited or changed? Do other users ask for help on The Roost? Or is it like you go on a random article see if it needs editing

3) Is it ok that i've only played a few animal crossing games and i'm still apart of Nookipedia? I don't know EVERYTHING about EVERY GAME. I've only played New Leaf, New Horizons, & Happy Home Designer. Can I still participate?

Not SuperHamster, and over a week late, but still here to answer your questions:

1) You don't need to sign up; if a project has a list of users, you can just add your name onto the list.

2) You can look on our to-do list on the main page for articles that need editing. You can also use the "random page" idea you mentioned earlier, if you wish.

3) Of course! You don't need to own - or have played - every game in the series when joining. I joined this wiki when I only had New Horizons and Pocket Camp. :P

Ozzie's umbrella

Hello, which game would you be referring to? Ozzie doesn't have the leaf umbrella in New Horizons, but he should for New Leaf, according to the New Leaf save editor. Ozzie owns a leaf umbrella in New Leaf, and he owns a mint umbrella in New Horizons. I noticed that you made an edit just now to the "New Leaf" section of Ozzie's page, not the New Horizons section.
