Nintendo Direct is an online presentation hosted and produced by Nintendo to deliver information regarding the company's upcoming games, franchises, or gaming consoles. It first premiered on October 21, 2011, and originally had Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aimé as the hosts for Nintendo Direct in Japan and North America respectively. The series has since moved to universal hosts for all regions in the form of Yoshiaki Koizumi and Shinya Takahashi.

Various Animal Crossing-related Directs have been produced for Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The Japanese-exclusive Nintendo Direct of August 29, 2012 detailed new information for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, then untitled for the Western world.

Tobidase Dōbutsu no Mori Direct 2012.10.5

An Animal Crossing: New Leaf-focused Direct was released on October 5, 2012 for Japan. It was later rereleased through Nintendo UK on February 14, 2013 with English subtitles. The presentation is hosted by Satoru Iwata.

Nintendo Direct 10.25.12

The Nintendo Direct of October 25, 2012 revealed the name for the newest Animal Crossing game on the Nintendo 3DS, titled Animal Crossing: New Leaf. During the North America segment, Nate goes over various new mechanics available in New Leaf, including the player's new role as mayor, the public works projects, player customization on clothing and housing, new furnitures, and Tortimer Island. A small video presentation of Animal Crossing: New Leaf is shown afterwards, including footage of DJ KK remixing K.K. Gumbo. In the Japanese segment, in addition to showcasing the ability to place down public works project, showcased the Dream Suite and its dreaming feature to visit other player's towns.

An Animal Crossing: New Leaf-focused Direct was released on January 24, 2013 for South Korea only. This video presentation has since been removed from Nintendo Korea's own website, making this Nintendo Direct a lost media.

Nintendo Direct 2.14.2013

The Nintendo Direct of February 14, 2013 (known as the Nintendo 3DS Direct Presentation in Europe) featured the Western release dates of Animal Crossing: New Leaf for June 9, 2013 and June 14, 2013 in North America and Europe respectively. A quick summary of what the player can do and what can occur in Animal Crossing: New Leaf is given by Bill Trinen in the North American release and Katsuya Eguchi in the European release.

The Nintendo Direct at E3 2013 revealed Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, with Villager being one of the first three newcomers revealed for the game, the others being Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer. Many of Villager's moves shown used various Animal Crossing-related tools, including the net, shovel, and axe.

The Nintendo Direct of April 1, 2015 revealed Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and the line of amiibo cards created for the game. The footage goes over detail on customizing a house for a villager with requests of the proper furniture item, as well as how amiibo cards work with the game. The Direct also covered the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 crossover with a new course known as Animal Crossing.

The Nintendo Digital Event @ E3 2015 revealed Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival and the line of amiibo figures created for the game. The footage goes over more detail on how the game works, with Animal Crossing characters moving on boards to load up a story of the day, including the roles of Katrina, Phineas, Joan, Katie, and Nat. Prior to this announcement, new footage of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer was shown.

Nintendo Direct 9.13.2018

The Nintendo Direct of September 13, 2018 featured Isabelle making her appearance as a fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, under mock footage of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Her moveset shown heavily resembles that of Villager, although with a few major tweaks that makes her classify as not being an echo fighter. Her announcement came before a teaser for the then untitled Animal Crossing: New Horizons, featuring Tom Nook expressing excitement for Isabelle's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
