Welcome!

Welcome to Nookipedia, Sunmarsh/Archive!
Nookipedia.png
We're glad you've taken the step to create an account and edit our wiki! With an account you'll now be able to easily edit pages, participate in discussions, watch pages, track your edits, and have access to additional editing tools. You can also create and edit your own user page.

If you intend to continue editing, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Read our wiki's general use and editing, and privacy policies.
  • Preview your changes before saving them to avoid the need for making corrections afterwards.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes instead of undoing or reinstating changes repeatedly without discussion.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This code will automatically leave your name and a timestamp.

You can find editing tutorials and further information about our policies on the help pages.

Where to start? Check out the The Roost for the latest discussions, or consult the to-do list on the Main Page to see tasks that need to be worked on.
Questions? Feel free to ask a member of staff directly, post your question on the The Roost talk page, or ask about it on our Discord icon Discord server. We're always happy to help!
Thank you for your contributions, and have a great time! -- Nookipedia Staff

Signing comments

Hey there! Welcome to Nookipedia (again), and great job so far! Just a quick tip that when signing comments on talk pages, use four tildes (~~~~). This places both your username and a timestamp on the page. Feel free to ask me or any other staff members for any more help (or consider posting at the Community Fountain to get help from the general community). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 18:27, July 14, 2014 (EDT)

Mario's Reply

Usually, in a section title, the only letters you should capitalize are the first one and proper nouns.

I'm not sure if it's necessary to create pages on every group of furniture. I think it's better to create articles of groups of furniture. As for uncategorized items, we can put them in a very decentralized "theme" article, although that would be very time consuming.

If you have access to the e-guide of the game (look it up in the official site; sign in, register, and input a code if you need to; the code is found somewhere in the middle of the book), there's no need to scan the page. Just browse through the guide, right click on the image, and save the image to upload it here. Easy, but time-consuming.

Thanks for asking! I hope I helped. Mario Signature.png 19:40, July 14, 2014 (EDT)

Thanks for the reply. I was actually referring to items from the first Animal Crossing game, not ACNL. I also have the guide to Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk so I could scan those guides for item images as well. --sunmarsh (talk)
Oh, gotcha. Does Prima have e-guides for Wild World and City Folk? It would spare you a lot of scanning if they did. Mario Signature.png 19:52, July 14, 2014 (EDT)
I don't believe that they started e-guides until after the guide for City Folk was published, so no. Besides, e-guides weren't as widely used back then as they are now? Come to think of it, did Prima even have a guide for Wild World. I have the Nintendo Power guide for Wild World, not Prima. --XXSuperXXNintendoXx (talk) 02:38, July 15, 2014 (EDT)
Hm, maybe you're right. I guess scans would have to do, but if you're able to obtain screenshots from, say, an emulator, the more the better. Mario Signature.png 16:19, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

Multiple Edits

Hello! I noticed you've been making a lot of edits to the same page over a short time. Doing this puts a large strain on our server and clogs up the recent changes. So instead of saving a lot, use the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button. It'll allow you to view your edit for any mistakes so you don't have to make a lot of fixing edits or additional ones! Additionally, it will help to reduce the workload of the staff who have to patrol each and every edit. Thanks! :) --XXSuperXXNintendoXx (talk) 16:33, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

Sorry about that! I didn't realize that the Sandbox page was viewable to everyone... although I'm sure that's not the only page where I've been guilty of this. ^^; I'll do my best to keep the edit count to a minimum. --sunmarsh (talk) 16:40, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

Autopatrol

Hé, considering your great recent contributions, you have been promoted to trustee status! It means that you're trusted enough that we don't need to patrol your edits. I hope you keep up your great work here, especially on that Acre article. :) Mario Signature.png 22:42, July 15, 2014 (EDT)

Text - The Golden Leaf Award.png
Golden Leaf Award.png
Congratulations, you have been awarded the Golden Leaf Award!

You have made great edits in general, bringing up relevant and useful questions, and providing lots of needed help and answers for issues. You've done a wonderful job, so you deserve this award! Keep up the good work! Mario Signature.png 14:37, July 22, 2014 (EDT)
Thanks so much guys! :D Glad to help out and I hope to continue doing so in the future. :) --sunmarsh (talk) 22:32, July 22, 2014 (EDT)

Staff?

Hey sunmarsh - love the work you've done so far. I think you're definitely ready to join the staff team as a Patroller, if you so desire. Just let me know and I'll be happy to nominate you. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 09:42, July 31, 2014 (EDT)

That sounds great! Thanks so much; I'll be sure to do my best. :D *Copper salute* --sunmarsh (talk) 14:56, July 31, 2014 (EDT)
I'll support the nomination, that's for sure. Mario Signature.png 15:03, July 31, 2014 (EDT)
I would definitely support the nomination too, as you've shown through your edits and past projects that you have a vast knowledge on the technical aspects of the series, which is something the majority of players know nothing about. --XXSuperXXNintendoXx (talk) 15:39, July 31, 2014 (EDT)
Great! Nomination placed at Nookipedia:Staff/Apply. ~SuperHamster Talk 15:40, July 31, 2014 (EDT)
You have been promoted to patroller. Congratulations! --Jake 14:04, August 7, 2014 (EDT)
Awesome! Thank you everyone for your support & positive feedback. :) Is there a page somewhere that lists Patroller responsibilities more in-depth (other than Nookipedia:Patrollers)? Perhaps with guidelines/suggestions on when it's appropriate to use patroller-specific abilities? --sunmarsh (talk) 15:55, August 7, 2014 (EDT)
Hrmm...not that I know of. But to give a quick run-down, the two biggest tools you have are deleting and protecting pages. You can delete pages that obviously shouldn't exist (e.g. files that will never be used, new articles that aren't about anything significant, etc.). Any other page should still go through the normal discussions before deleting. As for protecting pages, that's typically done if a page is repeatedly being vandalized, or a template is widely used across the site.
So yep...basically, just use your best judgement :) Being voted in for staff means we trust your judgement. But feel free to ask any questions at any time! ~SuperHamster Talk 22:36, August 7, 2014 (EDT)
You can always post any questions you may have on the Staff Forum or send either (or both of us) a PM. And remember, there isn't a single mistake you can make that can't be undone, so don't be afraid to use your new permissions as you see fit. As SuperHamster said, we trust your judgement with this. --Jake 13:38, August 8, 2014 (EDT)

Project Furniture Request

Hey, this is Marcus(talk), Can I be project furniture? I really think I can help! Thanks!--Marcus 18:18, October 1, 2014 (EDT)

I've added you. Please remember to use the Preview tab (or the Show Preview button) prior to submitting edits. Every edit you make must be patrolled (aka checked for accuracy/appropriateness) because you are a new member. The more minor edits you make, the more posts we have to patrol. -sunmarsh (talk) 18:59, October 1, 2014 (EDT)
so I am now in project furniture? Awesome! Thank you so much! --Marcus (talk) 17:30, October 2, 2014 (EDT) and how do you make an image appear for my project furniture account?--Marcus (talk) 17:34, October 2, 2014 (EDT)
To add an image to your project furniture profile, you simply edit the page and add it to the appropriate location. I can do this for you if you'd like. First, the image needs to be uploaded to the wiki; you can do so here. Alternatively, we can use a pre-existing image which you can view or search for here. -sunmarsh (talk) 18:09, October 2, 2014 (EDT)

Can this be my picture? Toon Link SSB4.png Thanks! Also, is there any pages that need help with editing involving project furniture for me to help with? --Marcus (talk) 21:39, October 2, 2014 (EDT)

Yes, if you look on the Project Furniture page, there are lists of Series, Themes, Sets etc. that need work (purple and grey boxes). To get an idea of what the final result should look like, take a look at the already completed pages in the green boxes (clicking the edit button on one of those pages to see the wikitext/templates used may be helpful). Remember to conform to Nookipedia guidelines in regard to item capitalization (see here). --sunmarsh (talk) 13:25, October 3, 2014 (EDT)
Ok, thanks! - unsigned comment from 567koala (talkcontribs)

Re:Meeting request

Yeah, we could do with a collaboration of some sort, because some of our projects are of incomprehensible scale and working as a team makes things more efficient. But I don't know if a chatroom would work. I may be online earlier than you. However, I am quite interested in reviving the other projects (like Project Furniture was), and utilizing the talk pages and forum for some of our discussions. I'll wait for more input on this, and thanks for bringing this up (the workload on me was rather large so I've took a slight break). Red Snapper 14:31, October 6, 2014 (EDT)

Glad to hear you're interested. I've posted my thoughts over at the Community Fountain if you'd like to collaborate. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 19:50, October 6, 2014 (EDT)

Signature help

Hey sunmarsh, how do you change your signature to look cooler like yours?--Marcus (talk) 21:21, October 7, 2014 (EDT)

Navigate to your Preferences page. In the Signature section, check the box "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)". My name is actually an image that I created. You can use wikitext to change font color and size, however the signature field only allows a certain amount of characters, so to get the effect I wanted I applied the font, color and size I wanted in a text editor, took a screenshot, and then uploaded the text as an image which I link to in my signature.
The wikitext for my signature is: [[File:Sunmarshsignature.png|link=User:Sunmarsh]] '''<small><span style="font-variant:small-caps">([[User_talk:Sunmarsh|<span style="color:#7B7B7B">talk</span>]])</span></small>''' Hey sunmarsh, thanks for the help with signatures! How does mine look? ;) --MarcusSignature.jpg 16:30, October 10, 2014 (EDT)

The golden Marcus award

The Golden Marcus Award.jpg

Hey sunmarsh! I have made my own reward, similar to the Golden Leaf Award! I call it the Golden Marcus award. You are such a great editor that I have decided to give the award to you! So, you have won the Golden Marcus Award! --Marcus (talk) 21:26, October 8, 2014 (EDT)

Thanks Marcus, I really appreciate it. :) Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 11:06, October 10, 2014 (EDT)

Table Templates

Hey sunmarsh. Hope all is well! I just wanted to say thank you for all of the work you've put into fixing up the table templates. The syntax looks a lot better, and the colored MIA images are a nice touch. I know you must have put a lot of time and effort into getting it all set up and working (at least 36 hours over the last week, according to the server), and I just wanted to make sure your work doesn't go unappreciated. I'm making you the first ever Honored Member Special Nomination. Thanks again! :) --Jake 15:34, July 1, 2015 (EDT)

Thanks so much for the kind words, it means a lot. :) If you or anyone has any suggestions for improvements do let me know. As versatile as the templates may be I'm no expert- mostly trial and error. Got to get our item tables in shape- I'm sure we'll have a bunch more to add come September. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 15:50, July 1, 2015 (EDT)
Just wanted to pop in and also say, fantastic job :) The template really does look fantastic. ~SuperHamster Talk 16:46, July 1, 2015 (EDT)

New table header format

Just curious, but what are the advantages to the new table format compared to ItemList? Aside from a little error in one of the tables (those pesky div wrappers). I'm curious because I'm just catching my breath after converting a lot of tables from the old format into a newer format, only for an even newer format to come along! Mario Signature.png 21:54, July 1, 2015 (EDT)

Glad you asked! I know that on the series pages it really doesn't look any different, and that's because there aren't very many cosmetic changes made to the way the tables display on those pages. The main thing I was trying to accomplish was to create a template that we could use to create EVERY item table on the site, regardless of what sort of list we were trying to create or what game it was for. Template:ItemList only works for furniture and wallpaper/carpet on series pages. The new template will eventually work for all items (right now it only works for furniture, wallpaper, carpet, fish, insects, seafood and music). There's a more thorough list of changes in the documentation for the template as well. If you ever have any further questions about it, have suggestions etc. please feel free to ask! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 15:45, July 3, 2015 (EDT)
Okay, in the meantime, perhaps you can put it in Project Furniture as the new template? Mario Signature.png 16:39, July 5, 2015 (EDT)
Done deal. Thanks for reminding me to do that. ^^; Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 13:55, July 6, 2015 (EDT)

Is this you?

I found this person on Twitter. --50.136.149.237 17:48, July 9, 2015 (EDT)

What person on Twitter? --Pachisu123 (talk) 16:11, September 23, 2015 (EDT)

Are you a boy or girl?

108.175.159.130 17:50, July 9, 2015 (EDT)

I think sunmarsh is a boy because there is a user on Twitter I found named [removed] who is probably the same user on Nookipedia. --50.136.149.237 17:53, July 9, 2015 (EDT)
Well you found me... uh, congrats? Please don't post links to my social media without my express permission, thank you. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 18:10, July 9, 2015 (EDT)
You never said not to put links to your social media in your user page or anything like that... Also I found your Twitter account by search engine. --50.136.149.237 20:24, July 9, 2015 (EDT)
No one needs to say "don't post my social media information". It comes as a reasonable expectation of privacy. Even if publicly available and even easily found, it can be disrespectful to research for someone's personal information and start posting it around. Doing so is called doxing and is frowned upon - and definitely not allowed on Nookipedia. ~SuperHamster Talk 22:08, July 9, 2015 (EDT)
Oops...I won't do it again. Also are you able to hide the revision of before you removed your Twitter link?(keep this post but have the revision that has the Twitter account mentioned removed) --50.136.149.237 22:41, July 9, 2015 (EDT)
Thanks for undestanding! And yep - I've asked Sunmarsh if he'd like the revisions hidden and will do so when he responds. ~SuperHamster Talk 22:43, July 9, 2015 (EDT)

Spa theme

I simply deleted the page you created to make way for a move. I believe the history has been preserved while all the double redirects have been removed. Thanks for the notification! Mario Signature.png 17:31, July 17, 2015 (EDT)

Hey!

Good job with all that work! It makes me wonder, though, how long does it take to do all of this? :O Either way, I salute you for you efforts. :) Mario Signature.png 17:51, July 27, 2015 (EDT)

hello - HomerJCHomerJC Profilepicgif.gif 17:53, July 27, 2015 (EDT)
Thanks so much. :) You mean the edits to Template:Villager Info? If so, the table looks a lot different but the coding didn't change very much at all. Just a matter of analyzing the way the template was set up by Sky and figuring out where I needed to put everything. Took an hour or two maybe? The mock-up I created from scratch in my Sandbox (not there anymore, maybe, I don't remember) took longer to make than the actual changes to the template. If you're talking in general about how long it takes to make large changes to templates (+/- thousands of characters) those are usually the quickest because they involve a find & replace command. Even the conversions to Template:TableHeader are made much quicker due to find & replace. But working with tables is actually pretty fun. Like a puzzle game figuring out how to get things to do what you want. But I've had to spend a bit of time referencing guides and stuff to get where I am now. Also, HomerJC, not sure if that was meant for me, but hello to you too. :P Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 22:35, July 27, 2015 (EDT)
An hour or so it quite a lot. I was just wondering since edits with thousands of characters added tend to be a lot of effort. When I do it, it takes so long, my poor neck starts hurting, and I have to stand up. Me, I'm not extremely experienced with templates, as most of my editing comes from content-related things rather than inner wiki works. Regarding your edits, I was referring to your edits in general, especially those with bolded thousand-character revisions, so your Villager Info is just a part of it. :P Mario Signature.png 22:41, July 27, 2015 (EDT)

Promotion time?

The work you've been doing lately has been fantastic, and I think a promotion to admin is overdue. That'll leave us with no patrollers, but that'll mean plenty of room for newcomers! What say you? ~SuperHamster Talk 16:05, July 31, 2015 (EDT)

I was actually just thinking the same thing. Being able to edit protected pages would definitely help you with all the template editing. --Jake 19:26, July 31, 2015 (EDT)
I had the same thoughts as well. Giving the ability for text replacements might come in handy too. Mario Signature.png 23:00, July 31, 2015 (EDT)
I'd be delighted. :D I'm glad that my edits have made such a positive impact & I'll do my best to make proper use of my admin tools. Thanks so much! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:42, August 1, 2015 (EDT)
The application's up. I'm certain you'll pass. Mario Signature.png 21:28, August 2, 2015 (EDT)

Villager Info template

Hi. I think that there should be an update to the Villager Info template, regarding Happy Home Designer. It will have the characters profile pic, home request, and day they are found on. Thanks, Trainiax (talk) 14:10, August 5, 2015 (EDT)

Updating Template:Villager Info for Happy Home Designer is certainly a possibility. However the pictures included in the WW & NL sections are of their official villager pics. We will have to see if such pictures are included in HHD and if they differ from ACNL. I definitely think that their request type is worth noting, we just have to be sure that each villager has a specific request and that it isn't random or chosen from a pool based on their personality type. Lastly, it was my impression that the villagers appeared randomly and not on a specific day. Do you have any evidence for this? Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:41, August 5, 2015 (EDT)
Yes, on Spriters-Resource they had the pictures, but they are very low-quality (see here). But I also found their NPC Icons, the ones that are shown at the bottom of the screen when you are making their house (here). I have already started cropping everyone's own NPC Icon. Trainiax (talk) 09:24, August 7, 2015 (EDT)
Wow! Very nice find! The second sprite sheet also serves as a list of characters that appear in the game. The first thing we need to do is crop each animal out and start uploading the images here using a standard naming convention. Maybe (AnimalName)HHDIcon.png. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 10:52, August 7, 2015 (EDT)

Project Villager reboot?

Well, if you're doing it, I would be more than happy to be a member. I'm focusing all my efforts on Project Furniture, but yeah, just letting you know that I might contribute here and there. Good job on the overhaul, though! (Σ(:o}) Mario Signature.png 18:50, August 11, 2015 (EDT)

Awesome, and thanks! I'm still working on the project page now but will add a new members section where you can put your name down. :) I'm actually going to try and focus on Happy Home Designer & amiibo Festival coverage before I really get to work on updating the villager pages, but I figured it made sense to set up some clear instructions so that if people started to use the templates that they would have some guidance. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 19:24, August 11, 2015 (EDT)

Block request

I would like to request to block Domowithamustache (talk | contribs | logs), for vandalizing Aurora's page. I think only Admins can use {{BlockWarning}}, so I didn't. Sheldon's Pic NL Model.png - Trainiax (talk) Gaston's Pic NL Model.png 18:38, August 28, 2015 (EDT)

Domowithamustache has already been blocked for 1 week for that edit, so I don't see any reason to block him again. Red (snappity snap snap!) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 13:14, August 29, 2015 (EDT)

New characters in HHD

Just wanna give you a heads up, there are two new characters in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Airuu (Monster Hunter DLC), and Number 7 (7-11 DLC). Sheldon's Pic NL Model.png - Trainiax (talk) Gaston's Pic NL Model.png 15:44, September 24, 2015 (EDT)

Updating the amiibo card template

In amiibo Festival's Desert Island Escape, every villager has a favourite fruit and special ability, I just thought it might be a good idea if we update the amiibo card template to include this and other information I may have forgotten to mention - ZCJigglypuff

Agreed. I may get around to editing it sometime this month. (Hopefully!) Thanks for the suggestion. :) Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 20:32, January 12, 2016 (EST)

Hey there!

Nice to hear from you! Glad to see you've been productive (or trying to be...) and are going places in the romantic world. Splatoon is hella fun. Good luck with apps and I hope to see you around! ~SuperHamster Talk 21:44, January 12, 2016 (EST)

Sorry for the late reply- thanks! I finished both apps and am waiting to hear back. Crossing my fingers over here. :P Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 18:06, February 11, 2016 (EST)

Hey! Welcome back! I missed you! I was wondering when you'll be active again. Activity has certainly died a bit for me, however, but I still check here from time to time. I hope the the newer Animal Crossing games do get datamined as I've been checking for information on at least Happy Home Designer. I think, actually, our furniture images should use Happy Home Designer's sprites, and I've experimented with Patchwork items, but I appreciate more feedback. Thanks! Mario Signature.png 22:18, January 13, 2016 (EST)

Glad you're still around! I checked the Patchwork items and I agree that the HHD sprites look great in the item lists and I would be in support of using them in place of the ACNL items (those come from the online Prima guide, right?). I still think that we should keep the ACNL images (if we have them uploaded) and move them to a gallery section at the bottom, because while the HHD sprites look nice, they aren't 100% accurate representations of what the item looks like in game. They are a bit stylized. I've checked and I *think* all of the sprites have been ripped, I've counted 1,734 furniture sprites in HHD... not sure if that's all the furniture in ACNL though? The main series/themes are there though and those matter the most. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 18:06, February 11, 2016 (EST)
The New Leaf items are indeed from Prima, and I think Prima has everything. I'm also not sure if that's all the furniture items, but HHD does have the DLC stuff so chances are it has everything. While the sprites are stylized, they still give an accurate impression of what the furniture item looks like, not to mention that they at a consistent width and height unlike the Prima ones, and since they're transparent, they're more versatile, so I'd go for replacing them in general. I also agree moving Prima ones to a gallery just because, well, it doesn't hurt. Mario Signature.png 00:51, February 14, 2016 (EST)
I've uploaded all the images for the furniture series so far, and I see you've already replaced the images in at least one article- thanks for that! I will eventually go back and insert the images appropriately, but for now I'm focusing on editing and uploading them. If you ever have any time the images to the articles your help would be greatly appreciated. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:26, February 15, 2016 (EST)
Fantastic! Now to go in and add those images... that's gonna take a while. Any items in HHD that is absent? I mean, the game doesn't include them for whatever reason? Mario Signature.png 22:22, March 1, 2016 (EST)

Images

Please don't upload too many images at once, as this floods the recent changes page and clogs up what the admins have to patrol. Thanks. --MLAATR-Girl22 (talk) 13:36, February 13, 2016 (EST)

yeah! --Wanda-Wizowski MacPherson (talk) 13:40, February 13, 2016 (EST)
It's poor courtesy to tell an administrator what to do, MLAATR-Girl22. If sunmarsh had been concerned about flooding the recent changes, I'm sure the directors would not have minded giving him temporary "bot" permissions. Also, sunmarsh's edits are automatically patrolled since he is an administrator. Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 13:40, February 13, 2016 (EST)
What about other users recent edits? Their edits might not be auto-patrolled like Sunmarsh because they might not be admins --Pachisu123 (talk) 13:44, February 13, 2016 (EST)
Yeah, sorry, I understand what she means now. However, it does not mean that posting this comment was a good idea. Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 13:47, February 13, 2016 (EST)
For the record, there is no problem with uploading many images as long as they're constructive. Patrollers can filter the recent changes so that only unpatrolled edits are seen. ~SuperHamster Talk 19:33, February 13, 2016 (EST)
Per, there is absolutely no problem with uploading a lot of good and useable images. Remember, it's just hard work in progress. Mario Signature.png 00:47, February 14, 2016 (EST)
I do appreciate everyone's concern, and as others have already mentioned, as an administrator I'm well aware of what I'm doing, thanks. The images will be used on item pages in place of the ACNL images which will be moved to the gallery section of the page. I planned to post something about this on the Community Fountain to let everyone know what was going on, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:05, February 15, 2016 (EST)

City Folk bugs page

Hi, I hope you enjoyed your break. Could you please take a look at Bugs/Animal Crossing: City Folk for me? I just completed the page, but the template needs a few corrections (the red links at the top, and also the 'Locations' parameter has pale text which is barely readable). Thanks! Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 12:58, April 12, 2016 (EDT)

I'll get to work on it straight away. Thanks for the head's up. :) Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 17:38, April 12, 2016 (EDT)
Alright, I've made the necessary changes. The Locations column had gray text because it used to be the Months column, which needs that text color because the months are abbreviated by their first letter and those in which the bug appears are highlighted green and the rest are left gray. The gray is automatically applied to that column, but the highlighting needs to be done by hand. I edited the page to correct that. The reason the links don't work is because the gamelink parameter is currently coded to only work properly with ACNL tables. Once I recode it to work with other games I will restore it on that page. Template:User Edit

Happened to just find out that you were able to finally figure out that dreaded "Template:User Edit" I was working on before I left staff. I wanted to thank you even more than that automated thanking option and congratulate you personally! I felt very incomplete having that project on hold due to my inexperience in that level of wiki editing and I am very glad you were able to get it working where I could not. Thank you very much! ~PoizonMushro0mPoizonMush Sig.png 23:07, April 23, 2016 (EDT)

You're very welcome, glad to help! :D Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 09:13, April 25, 2016 (EDT)

Mobile app

Was about to start the mobile app article, and I realized you already got it covered! Just wanted to say great work - it's a lot more in-depth than I could have imagined. ~SuperHamster Talk 18:42, April 27, 2016 (EDT) P.S. Pushed the article out to our social media. ~SuperHamster Talk 18:44, April 27, 2016 (EDT)

You're very welcome- wanted to start the page off right. :D P.S. That's awesome, thanks! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 18:46, April 27, 2016 (EDT)

Revive Project Museum?

With me and you doing a lot of editing on fish and bug pages recently, I wonder if now may be the time to consider reviving Project Museum/FishBuggyPedia (which has been dead since 2013)? There's still a lot of work to be done in this area, especially on bug articles. Barren sections need info adding to them, fish lists need to be completed, and of course there's the revamps of the Fish and Bug pages that you're carrying out. It's only a suggestion, but if you're interested, one or both of us could consider starting the project back up again. Thanks for your time! Red (talk) Red Snapper WW Sprite.png 12:41, June 24, 2016 (EDT)

I agree that the pages need to be revisited- some of them don't even have images on them. I don't think I have the time to devote to spearheading another project myself, but if you'd like to start it I'll help you in whatever ways I can. Smily.png I plan to finish the Fish page at the very least, so you'll have something to go on for the other pages. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 15:19, June 24, 2016 (EDT)

Template Help

Hey Sunmarsh! I've been attempting to make a villager template for Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, in particular, the Desert Island Escape mode, as it is the only mode that has attributes for each character that isn't already shown on each characters amiibo card. ( For example in "amiibo Card Battle", while each character has attributes, these attributes are already on the cards [dice value and star-sign]). Unfortunately, template making isn't really something I know how to do, so I thought I'd ask if you would be able to do the job. What I've done is in my sandbox. It doesn't look too amazing, and there needs to be room for when we can find good quality sprites of the attributes icons from the game, but hopefully it is enough for you to understand what needs to be in it. Thanks a bunch! :D ZCJigglypuff(Talk) 07:34, August 15, 2016 (EDT)

Hey there ZCJigglypuff (talk | contribs | logs), I know you've mentioned this before and I apologize for not working on it until now. As I may have mentioned before, I think information for Desert Island Escape is best placed on that game's page, rather than added as an additional template tagged onto each villager's article page. For that reason, I've created a table on the Desert Island Escape page where this information can be documented. If you have any questions about the table, or suggestions for improvement, let me know. Information for the first 100 AC amiibo cards (+ a guide to Desert Island Escape) can be found here.
Wow, the table looks really good! I think everything looks really nice and it perfectly demonstrates everything. The only thing I think could be added is a spot on the table for each villagers icon from the game ( Like the Gabi icon from my Sandbox) I'll upload the ones I got of Goldie, Rosie, Stitches and Eugene as soon as I get home, so you can see if you think they would fit into the table well or not . Thanks again! ZCJigglypuff(Talk) 17:44, August 15, 2016 (EDT)

I assume you like Beethoven? Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 19:44, December 25, 2016 (EST)

My username makes sense

Because i think i have a lot in common with beethoven in personality, hair(sometimes), etc. even as a little kid before i knew much about beethoven. --Beethoven Freak (talk) 18:57, December 26, 2016 (EST)

Sounds cool, I don't know much about Beethoven but I do admire his work. :) Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 20:24, December 26, 2016 (EST)

Re: Lava Lamp Refurbish subpage

There is some discussion on the refurbishing subpage of Lava Lamp Set. There is a small consensus for deletion, which includes me, but I'm holding out to check your thoughts, since you were the one who made the move. Thanks! Mario Signature.png 01:37, January 12, 2017 (EST)

Tarantulas

I don't know if I am in the right place, if not please forgive me and correct me. I am CAK491. I need help to catching a tarantula. I have caughten 3 scorpions, but no tarantulas, and where/when do you find a giant snakehead? - unsigned comment from CAK491 (talkcontribs)

Thank you!

Salve, Sunmarsh! I really appreciated your message, I kindly thank you. I aim to add in the future all the missing Italian names/explanations, and also contribute in this wiki even more in other fields. I hope this was the right section (and way) to reply to your message. If not, I'm really sorry. I won't do the same mistake twice.--Astrena (talk) 13:59, September 15, 2019 (EDT)

All of your translations have been very thoughtful so far. Keep up the good work. ;-) You can post your reply on your page, or on mine. It's up to you, really. See you around! Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 14:59, September 18, 2019 (EDT)

Re: Editor in chief

Sorry about all this! I do think the editor-in-chief role is a great idea, and I did understand what you wrote in your nomination. The only reason that I made the comment that I did is because the staff applications page has (so far) solely been used for patroller, admin and 'crat applications. Discussion about creating a new position might be better suited to Discord or the Community Fountain, but eh, someone else might disagree! Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:12, November 13, 2019 (EST)

No hard feelings Drago, I'm sorry if I read something into your comment that wasn't there. I appreciate you clarifying things. :) I agree that this is unprecedented and should probably involve more community discussion. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 14:03, November 13, 2019 (EST)
No problem at all. Looks like the directors have discussed things behind the scenes, so the new role should be ready to go now! :) Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:14, November 14, 2019 (EST)

Saharah's template

Hello, Sunmarsh! Sorry for bothering you with such a trivial question, but I edited Saharah's page to include her appearance in New Horizons, but her character template doesn't show the game. However, this problem doesn't appear in the preview. Did I do something wrong? Could you add it yourself, 'cause I don't seem able to? Thank you and sorry for bothering you with such a problem. --Astrena (talk) 17:30, February 16, 2020 (EST)

No worries Astrena. I think I figured out the problem; Nookipedia's cache of that page needed to be cleared. If you ever run into an issue where changes to a template are not appearing (this usually happens when you've updated a template but it still looks the same on the target page, but in this case was the result of the template depending on page categorization) you can do the following:
  1. Click the 'Edit' button on the page.
  2. Replace &action=edit at the end of the URL with &action=purge and press Enter on your keyboard.
  3. Select OK on the next page.
And the page will be updated with all of the latest information/reflect any changes to templates on that page. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 20:24, February 16, 2020 (EST)

Number of villagers in NH

Hello, Sunmarsh! I was strolling around in the Italian AC Twitter, and found this message (which I don't see in other accounts). The link: https://twitter.com/AC_Fuffi/status/1230799906408935424 I'll translate it for you: "Yes, yes. Luckily, today is Friday! At the moment, we are sending information brochures about the Desert Island Package to all Nook's Inc. clients. There will be 383 letters. It'll took some time, but each one of them will be drafted with care!". Should we add this information? --Astrena (talk) 08:55, February 21, 2020 (EST)

Actually, I just found the UK one: https://twitter.com/AC_Isabelle/status/1230799367105392640 Dunno why it didn't show up before. --Astrena (talk) 09:00, February 21, 2020 (EST)
Feel free to add the info. We were just talking about this on the Discord, actually. We believe that 383 is just the number of returning villagers but that the real total will be higher than this. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 12:13, February 21, 2020 (EST)
Hhm, actually another user added it before me, I just placed the reference section. I left it there because I didn't know what to do. Also, dunno if it should be noted the elimination of the Sanrio, Splatoon and Zelda's characters, considering it's lingering between facts and suppositions. Sorry for bothering you with that.--Astrena (talk) 13:06, February 21, 2020 (EST)
It's not a bother, thanks for being so diligent/keeping up with all of the new updates. Maybe for now we write something like "As the corresponding amiibo are no longer supported, the Sanrio, Splatoon and Zelda crossover characters are not expected to appear in New Horizons." Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 16:18, February 21, 2020 (EST)

Question

Hey sunmarsh, I wanted to ask you... could you have some kind of assistant in the villager project. I was the guy who is helping you to do the Daisy Mae article. I hope you respond for me, I don’t have animal crossing but I know a lot about it, I’m having an urge to help you doing the villager project Hope you respond NewHorizonsBoi

Anyone is welcome to join Project Villager and help out on the project. I would also encourage you to check out our Discord and join the discussion there on the #wiki-villagers channel. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 13:19, April 14, 2020 (EDT)

Name template

Hey, just a quick question, you're doing a bunch of edits to the name template but it's breaking the code a bit. Are you planning on changing it? It'd be great, because the current naming scheme is a bit unwieldy (and also a bit problematic; if you don't mind, could you switch "jap" to "jp"?), but if that's the case, I feel like the change probably should've been done first. Just wondering as a newbie, sorry! StrawberryChan (talk) 13:17, May 14, 2020 (EDT)

Hi, not Sunmarsh, but to provide quicker reply - the params are changing and when they are all changed across the pages, it will be updated to a new look. The new parameter for japanese is actually jp, the new documentation is available here. PaviinkaPapa Bear WW Model.png(Message me!) 13:21, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Oh, okay! Thanks for letting me know, my watchlist kept going off and I was wondering about it. StrawberryChan (talk) 13:24, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Thanks for replying on my behalf, Paviinka! I was away from my computer today. The template is indeed changing and I will (hopefully) have everything finished within the next hour or two. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 02:04, May 15, 2020 (EDT)

New table header

Hey there! Hope you're doing well. I know we're keen on replacing the behemoth of a TableHeader. As an experiment, I slapped up Template:TableTop. It's in the same style we're used to, with color, collapse, sorting, and column parameters. I used the Loops extension to dynamically generate columns based on however many columns are defined, which simplifies it quite a bit. I put TableTop in action with Template:TableTop NH Furniture, which is currently just used at Furniture/New Horizons/Housewares.

Only after this did I notice you've got some experiments going on here. Just wanted to sync up with you, and check to see if what I'm doing is what you had in mind in terms of how we'll organize our table templates going forward. I do really like the new design you've created as well, if we want to move forward with that. ~SuperHamster Talk 05:23, June 10, 2020 (EDT)

Exotic Rug HHD Icon

Hello! I was wondering if you happened to remember where/how you obtained File:Exotic Rug HHD Icon.png, since you uploaded this image a few years ago. As far as I am aware, this sprite (with a background) doesn't normally exist in the game, since many of the floorings were turned into rugs. From observation, it seems to be a combination of the Terrace Rug icon with a slightly-enlarged Exotic Rug icon placed on top of it. Was this a fan-made sprite made to mimic the regular Exotic Rug that appears in New Leaf, or is this a legitimate singular sprite found in the game files? Just wanted to know since the wiki is missing Cowhide Rug/Round Carpet/Shanty Mat/Tropical Rug HHD icons (which are needed for some of the house templates), and I was wondering if the actual full sprites existed somewhere or if more composite sprites should be created to mimic the appearance of the New Leaf floorings. Thank you in advance. HylianAngel (talk) 03:55, December 29, 2020 (EST)

Hi there, HylianAngel. Thanks for getting in touch. You're correct that these icons are not official and are hand-made, I made a note about this on the Community Fountain back in 2016, you can read about it here: Nookipedia_talk:Community_Fountain/2016#HHD_Icons. Basically, I couldn't find icons for them so I tried making them myself, some more successfully than others it seems. I'm not sure whether this is the best approach to take, as we may eventually replace the HHD icons with ACNL renders, but for now I don't see the harm in it if you wanted to continue creating composite sprites. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 14:41, December 29, 2020 (EST)
That's good to know, thanks again. I might go ahead and create those. And yeah, there are some furniture, wallpaper, and flooring that exists in New Leaf but not in Happy Home Designer (mostly stuff introduced with the Welcome Amiibo update, though there are some oddities like no Sand Garden or Hopscotch Floor in HHD even though they are in the base-game of NL). And there are some HHD icons that don't exactly match. Like I was initially hesitant to upload the Paintball Floor icon (for Camofrog's page) because they seem to have different designs between NL and HHD, but I uploaded it anyways. And the HHD Wide-Screen TV has a small change from the NL Wide-Screen TV, but they share the same name and there's no true HHD equivalent for this NL furniture. There's small things like that that make the HHD icons not exactly perfect for the NLHouse template. So renders would technically be a better replacement, but otherwise it's fine right now. HylianAngel (talk) 16:17, December 29, 2020 (EST)
Oh scratch Sand Garden, it does exist in the files and I just blinded it, it's called Rock-Garden Rug so I had trouble locating it. HylianAngel (talk) 19:13, December 29, 2020 (EST)
