Guide at StrategyWiki

Super Smash Bros. Melee[nb 2] is a fighting game released for the Nintendo GameCube. It is the second installment in the Super Smash Bros. series and features content from a variety of Nintendo video game franchises, including three trophies from the Animal Crossing series. As of 2008 it has sold 7.09 million copies, making it the best-selling game for the Nintendo GameCube.

Fighters

Super Smash Bros. Melee features 26 playable characters (counting Zelda and Sheik as two slots), 11 of which must be unlocked. Bold text denotes an unlockable character.

Content from the Animal Crossing series

Tom Nook, K.K. Slider (referred to by his Japanese name, Totakeke), and Mr. Resetti are featured as trophies. The description of the trophies lists their game of origin as "Future Release", while it is listed as Doubutsu no Mori in Japan. Additionally, Tom Nook and Mr. Resetti use their original Japanese designs as Animal Crossing was still undergoing localization, having only just been announced months earlier at Nintendo's 2001 pre-E3 press conference under the working title Animal Forest.
