Marcel (もんじゃ, Monja) is a lazy dog villager in the Animal Crossing series, who first appeared in Animal Crossing: City Folk. His name and phrase are French. "Non", (which means "no") is a mild joke on the French's way of speaking. It is stereotypically used at the end of questions e.g. "This shovel is used for digging up fossils, non?". He is probably named after Marcel Marceau, a known French mime and actor. Despite his mime-like appearance, his Japanese name and house theme are Asian based.

Appearance

Marcel in City Folk

Marcel has dark green fur with a painted white face to look like a mime. His original shirt is the Chichi print. He has an orange nose with red whiskers.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.

He likes to explore and will usually be seen walking around with a shovel. Marcel will occasionally ask you to find him some fossils. As a lazy villager, he is easygoing and very friendly towards the player. He will enjoy sleeping and eating.

House

Despite his mime-like appearance, his house is Asian-themed, made of a Samurai Suit, four Lucky Cats, a Hearth and a Scarecrow. If he acquires a stereo, it will play "Comrade K.K."
