Choose a character card that will help you get to the finish line first. Watch the meter at the bottom of the screen and press the indicated button in the yellow zone. Your partner determines how fast the arrow moves and how big the yellow zone is.

3-Legged Race (formatted internally as 3-legged Race)[nb 1] is an Animal Crossing-e and Doubutsu no Mori+ Card-e e-Reader minigame played on the Game Boy Advance. The "A" version of the minigame is contained on the P05 Boy (3) Game Card, and the "B" version is on the P07 Boy (4) Game Card.

Gameplay

Gameplay of 3-Legged Race

In 3-Legged Race, the player must scan one Character Card. The scanned character then teams up with the player in a three-legged race against another team of two characters. There is a bar at the bottom of the screen with a moving arrow beneath it, and the player must alternate between pressing GBA +Control Pad Right.svg and GBA B Button.svg as the arrow reaches the respective button's yellow zone at each end of the bar. Each successful button press moves the player's team forward, while failing to press the buttons in time causes the player's team to trip. The scanned character determines the speed of the arrow and the size of the yellow zone.

There are three difficulty levels that determine the rival team's speed: "Slow", "Average", and "Fast". The amount of time the rival team takes to complete the race is random. If the player's team wins the race, the game gives the player a password. After the race is over, the player can either try again with the same teammate and rivals or restart from the beginning.

Rival team characters

The characters on the rival team are predetermined for each difficulty in each version of the game. Even if the player chooses one of these characters as their teammate, that character will still appear on the rival team:

A
B

Passwords

Each version of 3-Legged Race has three passwords: one for each difficulty level. If one of these passwords is sent in a letter to any villager, the player receives a letter in return from Tom Nook that contains an item.
