Tortoises are a special species of animal characters in the Animal Crossing series, as no moving villagers are tortoises. The most notable character is Tortimer.
During the Acorn Festival in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Cornimer - a strange tortoise with an acorn head - will appear. It is speculated that he is merely Tortimer in a mask. Cornimer returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, as the final boss in the story mode of Animal Crossing: Puzzle League.
