Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu fō Nintendō Surī Dī Esu / Wī Yū), commonly referred to as Super Smash Bros. 4, is the fourth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series. The game launched in 2014 on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, the 3DS entry marks the series' first handheld version. It is also be the first Super Smash Bros. game to feature an Animal Crossing-related playable character, specifically Villager; whose appearance is based on the male player from the cover of Animal Crossing: City Folk. Additionally, Isabelle, the mayor's assistant who debuted in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, makes an appearance in the game as an Assist Trophy.
