For villagers who have this item placed on the floor in their house, there is a chance that the villager will gift it to the player.
Version differences
In Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Lucky Cat Set was removed, so the Beckoning Black Cat is not part of any furniture collection.
Leftover dummy item
In Animal Crossing, the Beckoning Cat is still leftover in the game data as a dummy item, unobtainable without gameplay modification or glitches. It has the unused name "lucky cat" and uses the dummy model, a white triangle with red Japanese text reading ダミー (damī, dummy). Its name was also translated to other languages in the European version of Animal Crossing, with the name "gato suerte" in Spanish, "chat fétiche" in French, "Glückskatze" in German, and "gatto fortuna" in Italian.
