Kabuki is a crankycatvillager in the Animal Crossing series who appears in all games to date. He is named after the traditional Japanese plays of the same name, from which he also gets his ornate red patterning. His catchphrase is a portmanteau of "meow," a cat's sound, and "iyō" (いよー), a famous kabuki shout.[1]
In New Horizons, Kabuki has the music hobby and may sing anywhere without the need of a stereo.
Kabuki is a white cat with red stripes running all along his body. The red stripes are reminiscent of the stripe pattern on a kabuki mask. He has big yellow eyes with small blue pupils and thick black eyebrows as well as a black zig-zaggy mouth. The inside of his ears are purple transitioned to pink. His hands, feet, and the tip of his tail are all purple.
Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.
As a cranky villager, Kabuki will appear mature compared to other personality types. This will make him appear belittling and insensitive to other villagers, including the player. Despite this, he will learn to confide in the player, considering them his only friend. He will enjoy the usual hobbies, but for relaxation and peace than competition. He will find it difficult to socialize with peppy villagers, who he will criticize when talking to other villagers. He will get along with normal and snooty villagers, as well as other cranky villagers, who he will share deeper conversations with, and will also admire lazy villagers for their lifestyle. He will, on occasion, annoy a normal villager, usually when being mean about something or someone.
Kabuki is a true advocate for the traditional arts. He has many strong opinions about what qualifies as truly traditional yet no applicable credentials.
Kabuki loves to perform, but he's too easily distracted to become a serious street actor. Instead of rehearsing, he'll start doing push-ups and pretty soon his entire day will be shot.
↑Kabuki's headwear during the Countdown can either be the New Year's silk hat or the New Year's hat, each rotating every year. The hat's variation will vary depending on what variations Tom Nook is selling at his stand.
↑If it is Kabuki's birthday, he will also wear the birthday hat (Blue variation).
