The Beckoning Black Cat can be obtained from Crazy Redd's Furniture Emporium for 1,700 Bells, Wisp, a treasure hunt, or trees when the player has good luck. For the purpose of fêng shui, its color is special. This item is lucky, meaning it gives a 777-point Happy Room Academy bonus when placed in the player's house.
In Doubutsu no Mori, this item appears in the homes of Betty, Billy, Hector, Kabuki, Snooty, and Sven.
In Doubutsu no Mori+, this item appears in the homes of Betty, Billy, Hector, Kabuki, Snooty, and Sven.
For villagers who have this item placed on the floor in their house, there is a chance that the villager will gift it to the player.
Version differences
In Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Lucky Cat Set was removed, so the Beckoning Black Cat is not part of any furniture collection.
Leftover dummy item
In Animal Crossing, the Beckoning Black Cat is still leftover in the game data as a dummy item, unobtainable without gameplay modification or glitches. It has the unused name "lucky black cat" and uses the dummy model, a white triangle with red Japanese text reading ダミー (damī, dummy). Its name was also translated to other languages in the European version of Animal Crossing, with the name "gato suerte gris" in Spanish, "chat N fétiche" in French, "Katze (schwarz)" in German, and "gatto nero" in Italian.
