"Hazure02"[nb 1] the second of three K.K. Slider songs that K.K. will play if the player makes an invalid song request in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The name of the song, hazure, is a Japanese word for "miss" or "failure," referring to the song's function in-game. This is the only name the song currently has in the game files and on official soundtrack releases.

"Hazure02" is based on city pop, a broad genre of Japanese pop/funk popular in the 1980s, and is particularly similar to Tatsuro Yamashita's 1982 single "Sparkle".

Appearances

In New Horizons

In New Horizons, "Hazure02" can be heard if the player makes a song request K.K. Slider and inputs something that does not match with any of his songs, as can the other two invalid songs, "Hazure01" and "Hazure03". Following the pattern of past invalid songs, these invalid songs will most likely become obtainable secret songs, likely with new non-placeholder names, in the next game in the Animal Crossing series.

The invalid songs have respective unobtainable items that, if placed in a music player via gameplay modification, will not play and default to the placeholder name けけロックとゆかいななかまたち (Keke rokku to yukai na nakama-tatchi, K.K. Rock and Happy Friends). In the player's inventory, the item's name will display as はずれ02 regardless of language.

Due to being an invalid song, "Hazure02" does not have a mood for the purpose of requesting it from K.K. However, the Karaoke System, which uses a song's mood to display images on its screen, is programmed to have the "I feel good!" mood as this song's image, despite the song not actually being able to be played on it.

Other appearances

On Atsumare Dōbutsu no Mori: Totakeke Music Instrumental Selection, a remix of "Hazure02" titled はずれ02 -City & Pop Ver.- is included as a bonus track on the B-side. It uses instruments with K.K.'s voice on top, similar to "K.K. House (Club Version)" on Machi e Ikou yo Doubutsu no Mori ~Mori no Ongakukai~ and Animal Crossing: Your Favorite Songs - Original Soundtrack.
