Stationery, also referred to as paper (びんせん, binsen^?), is a gameplay element in the Animal Crossing series; its primary function is for letter writing, and for receiving items in the mail. It comes in packs of four, with a variety of different patterns and themes.

Stationery can be obtained in a number of ways:

• It can be purchased at store, or in New Leaf and New Horizons, the Nookling Stores.
• It may be given to the player by villagers for completing requests (Animal Crossing only).
• Found at the dump or in the Police Station's 'Lost and Found' (Animal Crossing}}).
• Found in the Town Gate's 'Lost and Found' (Wild World and City Folk).

If the player receives a letter written on previously unencountered stationery, the stationery will be automatically added to the player's catalog in Animal Crossing: Wild World. This also applies to stationery sent by special characters or the HRA. Although these types of stationery cannot be bought or written on, they will appear in the catalog.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the mail system works differently, and stationery is no longer an item. Instead, the different cards stored on the card stand at the airport serve the same function and mail delivery costs 200 Bells, regardless of the design which is used in a letter. Consequently, any card designs used by a player do not appear in their catalog. Some stationery is only available to use for a limited time, often coinciding with the dates of in game events or seasons.

In Animal Crossing, letter papers and diaries can be purchased. Letter papers that is available for purchase at Tom Nook's are sold at  160 Bells per stack of four and can be ordered via Catalog. Tom Nook will buy them back for  10 Bells per piece. Diaries are similar to letters. They can be written in and also hold the calendar.

Decorative Card		A yellow card with very decorated borders, almost looking like an expensive picture frame. Villagers with gorgeous style preference will like this card.
Graduation Card		A blue card showing thrown graduation caps at the bottom.
Red-Dragonflies Card		A pale colored card with green, purple and yellow stalks on the bottom and two dragonflies flying from the top right corner into the center of the card. Mom uses this card to deliver Mom's Tea Cozy.
Camo Card		A card with the camo design. Villagers with cool style preference will like this one.
Zen Card		A red card with differently pale-colored flowers and various shapes you might make in a zen garden's sand.
Wedding Card		A pale blue card with decorated borders and two yellow birds on the bottom left corner. Reese and Cyrus will use this card to deliver heart crystals.
Elegant-Roses Card		A purple card with roses drawn on the right. Villagers with elegant style preference will like this one. Mom uses this card to deliver Mom's Handmade Apron in June in the Northern Hemisphere. Luna also uses this card to deliver dream tickets to players for uploading/updating their dream island.
Torn Card		A card that looks like paper that has been torn from a notepad. Villagers with simple style preference will like this card.
So-Many-Hearts Card		A very pink card with many hearts inside each one.
Shooting-Stars Card		A dark card showing the night sky with shooting stars. Mom uses this card to deliver Mom's Pen Stand.
Stationery-Goods Card		A card with a design that shows card on a table with pencil and eraser on the card. The card has been drawn on already.
Velvety Card		A red velvet card with golden decoration as the borders. Villagers with gorgeous style preference will like this one. The Farway Museum will also use this card to deliver the Golden Net and Golden Rod for completing their respective Critterpedia entries.
Gears Card		A dark card with black and gray gears in the top right and bottom left corners.
Gift Card		A card wrapped with ribbon and with the iconic Animal Crossing leaf which is attributed to Tom Nook. This card is exclusive for delivering items to others via Nook Shopping. It cannot be obtained from Dodo Airlines. When ordering an item from Nook Shopping, the 200 Bells charge for stationery is waived.
