The swinging bench is a customizable houseware furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The player is able to sit on this item. As an outdoor item, it will provide an additional 0.5 development points towards the island rating.

The swinging bench can be obtained from crafting, which requires 5× wood and 7× softwood. The recipe for this item can be obtained from Tom Nook, where there is a 50% chance of being obtained if Tom Nook asks for this item during the villager house development quest, or from the Test Your DIY Skills item. The physical recipe is unobtainable as of version 1.11.0, and it will disappear if flown or kept between play sessions. The item's color can be customized either by using 2 customization kits or by Cyrus at Harv's Island for  1,700 Bells.

This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Astrid, Cally, and Winnie. As a result, this item has a chance to be purchasable by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Al, Beardo, Biskit, Butch, Carrie, Chelsea, Gonzo, Norma, Papi, Sally, Soleil, and Sylvia.

In the designing process of Happy Home Paradise, Chelsea requires this item to be placed in or outside their vacation home. This item is also required as one of the chairs for the dining hall at the café, as one of the chairs for the waiting area at the hospital, as one of the chairs for the dining hall at the restaurant, and as one of the chairs for the classroom at the school.
