Octopuses are a species in the Animal Crossing series, appearing exclusively as villagers. They are the least common species of villagers in the series, as only four have been featured in the games. They are also the only species with characters not to be in the Chordata phylum. They are easily recognised by their spherical heads, tentacles, and ink-jets which are relocated to mimic mouths. Octopuses are one of the two species that appear as both sentient villagers and also as fish, the other being Frogs.

In Doubutsu no Mori and Animal Crossing, there is only a single male octopus, Octavian. A female octopus, Marina, is introduced as an islander in Doubutsu no Mori e+ and appears as a regular villager from Wild World onwards. Another male octopus, Zucker, is introduced in New Leaf, and a third male octopus, Inkwell, is introduced in the Welcome amiibo update. Octavian and Marina are currently the only octopuses in Pocket Camp, and Inkwell is currently the only octopus absent from New Horizons.

Octavian is cranky, Marina is normal, Zucker is lazy, and Inkwell is a jock. There are currently no peppy, sisterly, smug, or snooty octopuses.
