Robust cicada
The Robust Cicada[nb 1] is a bug in the Animal Crossing series that has appeared in every game to date. It makes a unique sound which is different to other cicadas, which sounds like a series of screaming "Beep! Beep! Beeeeeeeeep!".
In the games that the Robust Cicada appears in, it is a common bug that the player can encounter, and can be found on trees. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it can be caught during summer.

Real-world information[edit]
Hyalessa maculaticollis is a cicada native to much of eastern Asia, including Japan, Korea, China, and parts of Russia. Much like all cicadas, the robust cicada has transparent wings, small bodies in comparison and large eyes on either side of their heads. Their Japanese name comes from the male cicada's calls, which have been found to vary depending on location.
