Deer are a species in the Animal Crossing series that were first introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Male deer have a pair of antlers atop their heads, while female deer do not, making them the second villager species with a significant trait difference between male and female (the first being Kangaroos). Some deer villagers—like Zell, Lopez, Bruce, and Beau—resemble antelope, a species of mammal which have horns instead of antlers and are more closely related to cows than they are to deer.
There are eleven deer villagers so far; six are male, and five are female. Of these, two are lazy, two are normal, two are smug, two are sisterly, one is cranky, one is jock, and one is snooty. As of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are no peppy deer villagers. Deirdre and Lopez are the only deer absent from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
