Penguins are a species of bird villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are mainly differentiated from the generic bird villagers by their wider bodies, short stumpy tails, and their feet resembling those of the ducks. In addition to this, Boomer and Puck both wear headgear, while Hopper has prominent eyebrows.
There are fifteen penguin villagers in the Animal Crossing series so far; ten are male and only five are female. Of these, five are lazy, three are jocks, two are snooty, one is cranky, one is normal, one is peppy, one is smug, and one is sisterly. Out of all the penguin villagers, Analog and Nobuo are the only two penguins to not appear in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo.
Hopper also had a minor role in 🎬 Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori.
In New Horizons, eleven of the 13 penguin villagers share a common theme to their interiors, assuming they are not among the first five villagers on an island, having either Ice or Iceberg walls and flooring, as well as multiple pieces of Frozen Series furniture. The exceptions, Cube and Friga, still have similarly themed default interiors, with Cube’s featuring a Snowflake Wall and Friga’s resembling the inside of an igloo.
