Alligators are a species of villager in the Animal Crossing series. They are one of five reptilian species in the games and are the only reptiles that can appear as villagers; the chameleons, lizard, turtles, and tortoise are all exclusively special characters. The alligators have large jaws and two sharp lower teeth which protrude from their mouths, but unlike their real-life counterparts, they have large heads, which are otherwise proportional to the rest of their bodies in real-life.
There are nine alligator villagers, of which six are male and three are female, making it a predominantly male species. Of these, two are lazy, two are jock, two are normal, one is cranky, one is snooty, and one is smug. Roswell was originally a lazy islander before becoming a smug villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are currently no peppy or big sister alligators.
Liz is the only alligator who has not reappeared since Doubutsu no Mori e+. All of the alligators who appear in New Horizons also appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Additionally, Alfonso played a major role in 🎬 Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori.
