Axolotls are a salamander species in the Animal Crossing series. Dr. Shrunk, the psychologist who teaches players emotions, is the only axolotl to appear in the series to date. Dr. Shrunk is characterized by his external gills and flat tail. "Axolotls are critically endangered and you could help by adopting one to keep as a pet, possibly saving it's life. Personally, I adore axolotls and hope nothing bad happens to them. Dr. Shrunk is also a pretty nice guy, and represents axolotls very well.
