New Year's Day is the very first event of the year.

The following is a list of events in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Some events change dates depending on the year or the region or language of the game. In addition, some events only appear in specific game regions.

The legend for regions and languages is as follows:

  • United States of America: North America
  • Europe: Europe (some events differ based on the language the system is set to)
    • United Kingdom: English
    • Spain: Spanish
    • Germany: German
    • Italy: Italian
  • Japan: Japan
  • South Korea: South Korea

January[edit]

  • New Year's Day (January 1): Tortimer appear in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a New Year's Shirt for a particular year.
  • Fishing Tourney (third Saturday of January): Chip appears in front of Town Hall to host the first Fishing Tourney for the year, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of a particular species.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of January): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.
  • Lunar New Year (varies per year; South Korea exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Yut.

February[edit]

  • Groundhog Day (February 2; United States of America exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Resetti Model.
  • Setsubun (February 3; Japan exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player either a Red Ogre Mask or a Blue Ogre Mask.
  • Valentine's Day (February 14): The player may receive a letter from a villager including a Chocolate Heart, and Brewster will serve Hot Chocolate at The Roost.
  • Lunar New Year (varies per year; South Korea exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Yut.
  • Fishing Tourney (second Saturday of February): Chip appears in front of Town Hall to host another Fishing Tourney, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of any species.
  • Festivale (varies per year; two days before Ash Wednesday): Pavé appears in front of Town Hall and will exchange the player an item in the Pavé Series for a candy that the player can earn by playing minigames with villagers.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of February): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.
  • Daeboreum (varies per year; South Korea exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Buroem.
  • Leap Day (February 29; occurs only on leap years): A notice will appear on the Bulletin Board regarding the special occasion.

March[edit]

  • Girl's Day (March 1 to 3; Japan exclusive): Tom Nook's store will sell a Hinaningyo from March 1 to 3. On March 3, Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Rice Cake.
  • Festivale (varies per year; two days before Ash Wednesday): Pavé appears in front of Town Hall and will exchange the player an item in the Pavé Series for a candy that the player can earn by playing minigames with villagers.
  • Daeboreum (varies per year; South Korea exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Buroem.
  • Father's Day (March 19 for Spain and Italy): The player receives a letter from their dad with a red carnation attached.

  • Mother's Day (coincides with Mothering Sunday for United Kingdom): The player receives a letter from their mom with a pink carnation attached.
  • Bunny Day (varies per year; coincides with Easter for Western Christianity): Zipper T. Bunny appears in front of Town Hall and will ask the player to find thirty Easter eggs, with 18 featuring Candy and 12 featuring Bunny Foil. The latter can be traded for an Egg Series item.

  • April Fools' Day (April 1): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Leaf. Mom will also send a letter on this day.
  • Fishing Tourney (second Saturday of April): Chip appears in front of Town Hall to host another Fishing Tourney, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of any species.
  • Nature Day (April 22; United States of America exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Cool Globe.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of April): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.
  • Bunny Day (varies per year; coincides with Easter for Western Christianity): Zipper T. Bunny appears in front of Town Hall and will ask the player to find thirty Easter eggs, with 18 featuring Candy and 12 featuring Bunny Foil. The latter can be traded for an Egg Series item.

  • Father's Day (coincides with Feast of the Ascension for Western Christianity for Germany): The player receives a letter from their dad with a red carnation attached.

  • Father's Day (third Sunday of June for United States of America, Japan, United Kingdom, and France): The player receives a letter from their dad with a red carnation attached.
  • Bug-Off (third Saturday of June): Nat appears in front of Town Hall to host the first Bug-Off of the year, wherein the player must catch a highly-rated bug based on size, rarity, and luster.
  • Midsummer's Day (June 21; Europe exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Espressso Maker.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of June): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.

July[edit]

  • Tanabata (July 7; Japan exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Bamboo Grass.
  • Bug-Off (third Saturday of July): Nat appears in front of Town Hall to host another Bug-Off, wherein the player must catch a highly-rated bug based on size, rarity, and luster.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of July): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.

August[edit]

  • Fireworks Show (every Sunday of August): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player either a Sparkler or a Roman Candle. Tortimer will only give the player one of these items a night, but may give more if pestered enough. Tortimer may also send a fortune to the player for the night.
  • Bug-Off (third Saturday of August): Nat appears in front of Town Hall to host another Bug-Off, wherein the player must catch a highly-rated bug based on size, rarity, and luster.

September[edit]

  • Labor Day (first Monday of September; United States of America exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Picnic Basket.
  • Autumn Moon (varies per year; coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, give or take one day): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a gift depending on the region.
  • Bug-Off (third Saturday of September): Nat appears in front of Town Hall to host the last Bug-Off for the year, wherein the player must catch a highly-rated bug based on size, rarity, and luster.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of September): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.

  • Autumn Moon (varies per year; coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, give or take one day): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a gift depending on the region.
  • Explorer's Day (second Monday of October; United States of America exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Sailboat Model
  • Fishing Tourney (second Saturday of October): Chip appears in front of Town Hall the first Fishing Tourney after a long break, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of any species.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of October): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.
  • Halloween (October 31): From 6PM til midnight, villagers, dressed as Jack, will try to approach the player for candy. If the player can identify Jack from the other villagers, they can receive an item from the Spooky Series.

November[edit]

  • Fishing Tourney (third Saturday of November): Chip appears in front of Town Hall to host another Fishing Tourney, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of any species.
  • Harvest Festival (fourth Thursday of November): Tortimer sets up a feast in front of Town Hall, and Franklin will occasionally hide in a random location for the player to give him a Knife and Fork for a Harvest Series item.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of November): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.

December[edit]

  • Naughty-or-Nice Day (December 6; Europe exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Stuffed Stocking.
  • Fishing Tourney (second Saturday of December): Chip appears in front of Town Hall to host the last Fishing Tourney for the year, such that the player has to catch the biggest fish of any species.
  • Midwinter's Day (December 21; Europe exclusive): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall and when spoken to will give the player a Snow Globe.
  • Toy Day (December 24): Jingle appears between 8PM and midnight in various different locations, and the player must find him and answer his question to earn items from the Jingle Series.
  • Flea Market (fourth Sunday of December): Villagers allow others to come in and buy some of their items, and similarly the player can offer villagers to buy theirs.
  • Countdown (December 31): Tortimer appears in front of Town Hall with a large clock that counts down to midnight. He will give a Party Popper or Cracker.

Special[edit]

  • Birthday: During the player's birthday, they will receive a birthday cake and a letter from their mom with a present attached. Villager birthdays are not celebrated in City Folk.
