(I know for a fact that Isabelle can say the mayor is female! My main file in my New Leaf game is male, but I have a second, female character, and Isabelle says the mayor is female when sending the latter letters about his anniversary. Maybe a progamming error? I'm not 100% sure, so I invisi-commented that part out for others to verify.) |

The Town Anniversary (conjectural name[nb 1]) is an event in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo which celebrates the anniversary of the day the player assumed office as mayor. When the player loads their save file, Isabelle invites them at their doorstep to the event plaza, where the celebration occurs. She gives the player a sapling clock.
Non-mayor players will receive a letter from Isabelle, with an attached sapling clock. Isabelle refers to the mayor by the gender of the recipient of the letter, potentially causing her to incorrectly identify a male mayor as female (and vice versa) if a player's gender differs from that of the mayor's.
