Children's Day, or Boy's Day, is an event in the Animal Crossing series that occurs on May 5. It is celebrated in Doubutsu no Mori, Doubutsu no Mori+, Doubutsu no Mori e+, and in Japanese towns in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It also appears as a Nook Shopping seasonal event beginning in the 1.10.0 Free Update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Appearances[edit]

In Doubutsu no Mori[edit]

In Doubutsu no Mori, carp windsocks will appear around town from April 29 to May 5. The player will receive a letter from Mom on the actual day.

The event and carp flags were removed from Dòngwù Sēnlín.

In Doubutsu no Mori+, Animal Crossing, and Doubutsu no Mori e+[edit]

During Children's Day in Doubutsu no Mori+ and Doubutsu no Mori e+, Tortimer will appear near the shrine. If spoken to, he will give the player a locomotive model. In Animal Crossing, this item is instead obtained on Father's Day. Additionally, from April 20 to May 5, windsocks appear around the player's town. While the event itself does not occur in Animal Crossing, the windsocks remain.

In City Folk[edit]

In Japanese towns in Animal Crossing: City Folk, Tortimer appears outside town hall on Boy's Day and gives the player a newsprint helmet if spoken to.

Additionally, a carp banner was distributed in Japan via WiiConnect24 in celebration of the event.

In New Leaf[edit]

In Japanese towns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Isabelle appears in the plaza on Boy's Day and gives the player a newsprint helmet if spoken to.

In New Horizons[edit]

Although Children's Day does not appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a standard event, it appears as a Nook Shopping seasonal event beginning in the 1.10.0 Free Update, for the first time being celebrated internationally. From April 28 to May 5, the player can purchase a carp banner and a newsprint helmet from Nook Shopping.
