Clay is a lazy hamster villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His name is a reference to Dogū, a type of traditional Japanese clay figurine, which his appearance is based on.

In New Horizons, Clay has the nature hobby and will be more frequently seen sitting underneath trees or observing and watering flowers. He will also fish and chase after bugs, and may also be seen carrying bundles of sticks or picnic baskets.

Appearance

Clay in New Leaf.

Clay is a brown hamster. His eyes appear closed or squinted most of the time, and are surrounded by orange markings resembling goggles, with the "lens" area being a lighter shade of brown than the rest of his body. He has orange eyebrows and an orange mouth, as well as three red dots on each cheek. The insides of his ears are cyan. His hands, feet and stomach are the same lighter shade of brown as around his eyes, and are bordered with orange lines.

As a lazy villager, Clay will often talk about food. He will often talk about napping and dreams. Jock villagers will conflict him, due to having opposite lifestyles.
