Friend Codes are strings of twelve digits used to allow access to another person's town during online play in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, Friend Codes must be assigned by speaking to Copper at the Town Gate and selecting "Friend Code!". Once selected, Copper will attempt to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to assign a code; however, due to the termination of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in 2014, it is no longer possible to receive a Friend Code in Wild World and City Folk.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Friend Codes are instead on a system level and are automatically assigned when the games' respective consoles are connected to the internet.
