Elmer (サブレ, Sablé) is a horse villager with a lazy personality. He appears in all games from the Animal Crossing series. His name could be a reference to either the Elmer Horse Collection, a company which makes horse figurines, or Elmer Glue (glue used to be made from horses). His initial phrase, "tenderfoot", may relate to the cowboy ranch rank, where a tenderfoot is an inexperienced ranchman, or "cowboy". This may also be related to one of the Boy Scout ranks in American Scouts. His picture quote is referring to his lazy personality, because lazy villagers enjoy the consumption of food. He shares his picture quote with Drake, another villager.

Appearance

Elmer is a brown horse, with a darker brown mane and a grey muzzle. He has partially closed, lazy looking eyes with blue eyelids. His initial clothing is the gaudy sweater, but it was replaced by the periwinkle tee in Animal Crossing: New Leaf because the gaudy sweater turned into the gaudy dress in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.

As a lazy villager, he will enjoy napping and talking about food, as well as appearing calm and relaxed through most circumstances. He is fascinated by superheroes, and often wants a table or desk so he can jump off of it like a superhero (which is an unseen action). Like other lazy villagers, he will share the same interests such as clothes, fishing, bug catching, and fossil hunting. When he talks about clothes, he may mention his alter ego, "Fashion Lad", a made up hero by lazy villagers who tackles fashion disasters. Snooty and jock villagers will find it difficult to get along with him, due to his relaxed lifestyle which may cause offense to them. He often wants brown furniture.

House

Elmer's house has an old-fashioned theme to it. It has two ranch couches and a ranch coffee table, a classic clock, a regal dresser, wardrobe and lamp, a haz-mat barrel and a phonograph that plays "K.K. Waltz" or "K.K. Chorale." His house is very similar to Buck's.
