Soundscapes (also known as sound scenery) is a gameplay element introduced in the Happy Home Designer that gives players the opportunity to add ambient sound effect in the houses they design. The element returned in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, and can be now be used on the main player's house as well as any other resident houses when doing a remodel.

In Happy Home Designer the Player unlocks sound sceneries by using the Happy Home Handbook and paying 2 Play Coins.

In Happy Home Paradise

In Happy Home Paradise, after the player finishes the 17th vacation home, the player will find Wardell on the top island on the main archipelago island to learn seven new soundscapes. The player can find him again near the same spot after completing the 25th and 33rd vacation home to learn 16 more additional soundscapes for a total of 23 different soundscapes.

The player can use soundscapes when designing either their own house, a villager's house, a vacation home for a villager, or in Photopia.
