It is the first month of winter in the northern hemisphere, where snow sticks on the ground after December 10 (or December 9 in Animal Crossing), making it possible to create snowboys from snowballs on the ground. It is also the first month of summer in the southern hemisphere, and is where it is possible to find and catch a shark. The December Solstice occurs during this month, where it is the shortest day in the northern hemisphere and the longest day in the southern hemisphere.
