Bugs are collectible items in the Animal Crossing series. Players can catch them with a net. They can be donated to the museum (much to the dismay of Blathers), sold, or placed in the player's home like a piece of furniture. Most of them are worth a lot less than most fish when sold. A large amount of bugs will only emerge during the summer, and there are very few during the winter. The bugs that sell the best are the Horned Hercules and Golden Stag, they sell for 12,000 Bells each in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
There are 32 bugs in Doubutsu no Mori. Each subsequent game features 8 more species of bugs than the preceding one, meaning that in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are 80 different of bugs.
