The ribbon eel[nb 1] is a sea fish that first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. In New Leaf it appears only in the sea surrounding Tortimer Island and can be caught year-round, while in New Horizons it appears anywhere in the sea, but can only be caught from summer to mid fall. In both games, it appears as a uniquely narrow shadow, shared only by the eel and moray eel, all day long.
