Kicks (シャンク, Shyanku, Shank) is a skunk who appeared in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. He shines shoes for a living in the city on fair weather days. He is such a good shoe shiner that some animals that enlist his services are unsure that they are wearing the same shoes as when he began. He can be found outside a run-down building beside Lloid's auction house. He wears a brown hat with matching brown suspenders. He also has an Australian accent. In the UK version he has a Cockney accent.

If the player buys his services for 500 Bells, Kicks' shoe-shine will change the color the player's shoes to match his or her hair or outfit (not including pattern-made shirts which produce the defaults). If the shoes do not change colors, he will not charge for his services. There are only a select number of shoe patterns which can match each hair and outfit combo. He can match by style or by what color the player is wearing. The name "Kicks" is a reference on the slang word for tennis shoes, "kicks." He comes on only fair weather (i.e. sunny and clear). Even if the player time travels, he still appears.

Kicks returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where he runs the shoe shop Kicks.

Description Crikey! This shoeshine has really come up in the world. He used to work in a faraway city, but now he runs a shoe store with an impressive collection of shoes to choose from. And you can tell from that sharp-looking hat he's wearing that his is a style you can trust.
